Jordan Louis Jacobsen

October 19, 1984 - September 24, 2024

Our beloved son, brother and uncle passed away unexpectedly on September 24, 2024 at 1:08am from a tear in his aorta, at the age of 39, in Murray, Utah.

He was born in Phoenix, Arizona on October 19, 1984. He gave us a scare right off the bat when he didn’t breathe right away. Hearing that first wail was the most beautiful sound in the world. He spent his early years in Phoenix and attended Desert Horizon Elementary School from K-7th grade. The family moved to Moroni, Utah in 1998 where he spent his 8th and 9th grade years. With a move to West Jordan, Utah in 2000, he completed his High School years at West Jordan High School where he was a stage tech and did the lighting for all the shows, graduating in 2003. He attended Salt Lake Community College working toward getting into the nursing program to complete his education. In between he went to school with his big sister, Heather, where they obtained their EMT certification.

He was active in Scouting and received his Eagle Scout ranking. He was raised as a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and enjoyed many camping trips and other activities. He loved children and wanted to work where his mom was working at Valley Mental Health K.I.D.S Day Treatment but couldn’t work there until he was 19. He started the day after his 19th birthday. That set him on a path of working various places around the valley in child/adolescent Mental Health. As part of Valley Mental Health, he worked at Robert Frost Elementary School in the Behavioral unit, then as a secretary and all-around helper on campus. He moved on to Youth Care Residential Treatment in Draper, Utah, for adolescents. where he worked as Residential Staff, EMT and then Employee Specialist/Assistant Program Director. After 15 years he worked a short time at LUMOS Youth Counseling. The kids he worked with knew he cared and his patience with troubled teens was endless; he made a difference in their lives. He also worked part-time at Snowbird Ski Resort in Park City, first as an EMT then in Security for many years.

Jordan loved anything to do with police and we were all surprised he didn’t become one. He and his Dad spent many hours “scanner chasing” to “check things out”. As a little boy he was obsessed with Indiana Jones and had to have all the gear. He enjoyed snowboarding, playing games, watching all the reality “cop” shows and educating us on the law. His preferred sports teams were the Jazz, Diamond Backs, University of Utah football and the Dallas Cowboys. But, the thing that meant the most to him was spending time with his family. Family was his everything.  His nieces and nephews adored him. His siblings and parents are going to have a very hard time living without him. As is evidenced by the outpouring of love from so many on Facebook and texts sent to his family members, he was well-loved by most everyone he knew. A few words that describe Jordan are caring, loving, non-judgmental and loyal.

He is survived by his parents, Dave and Peggy Jacobsen, sisters Heather Jacobsen-LeBaron(Jake), Cassie Stott (Isaac), Kendra Olson (Cory), Amy Evans (Tyler) and his brother Ben Jacobsen (Alison), 17 nieces and nephews (and 2 on the way), foster sister Jacky and bonus nieces Dorothy and Daisy and bonus nephew Thomas, in addition to his “boys” (you know who you are) and their family, many extended family and cousins. He is preceded in death by a nephew, both sets of grandparents, two aunts and an uncle, who we know were there to greet him on the other side.

A viewing will be held on October 4th from 6pm-8pm. Funeral service on October 5th at 11am, with a viewing from 10-10:45am. Both will be held at the LDS church on 2666 W. 7000 S., West Jordan. Interment will follow at Salt Lake City Cemetery, 4th Ave. & “N” Street.

Special thanks to all who made him happy and he loved so much. Also, thank-you to the Paramedics/EMT’s, IMC nurses and doctors who worked so hard and long to try to save his life.

In Loving Memory

Jordan, You were always so caring and involved in your nieces and nephews lives. You loved your family above all else and were always committed to everyone’s safety. It was certainly a relief to know there was an experienced EMT present in case of an accident. I will miss running into you at the Snowbird Oktoberfest. You were a very special person and will be missed greatly. My condolences to the Jacobsen Family. Jordan was always an integral part of family functions. Riplee and Rylinn will especially miss you. You were cool cat. I hadn’t seen you for a few years and the grey hair suited you well. Ryan

Dave, Peggy and family, My deepest sympathies with your loss. I can’t imagine losing a child. I only know how difficult it is to lose parents, two brothers etc. That is difficult… My heart, prayers and thoughts are with you all. May God, bless and watch over you during this extremely difficult time. My precious memories and the love you all have for each other bring you comfort. Much love, Your cuz, Little “Do”

Peggy and family, We are so deeply saddened for your loss. We will forever be grateful for the time Jordan spent at Lumos working with our daughter Abby (Luna). His love for her was evident and she loved him so much. He will be missed. He gave Luna a gift that can never be repaid. Thank you Jordan.
