Joseph A. Maurice
A Great Husband & Father
Joseph passed away May 6, 2011 at home.
He was born at his home in Herkimer, New York, the son of Amos and Katherine Maurice on January 9, 1936. He graduated from Saint Francis de Sales, Herkimer High School and the University of St. Bonaventure. He married Joan Skinner on October 3, 1959 at St. Mary’s in Little Falls, New York, where they recently renewed their vows on their 50th wedding anniversary. Joseph served in the Army Reserve. He worked as an accountant at Sperry Unysis for most of his life, which brought about his move to Salt Lake City, Utah in 1976. He was a fourth degree knight and member of St. Thomas More Catholic Church. He was a member of the Sandy Senior Center and a Pinochle card group. Joseph loved and supported his family and believed in the importance of family togetherness. He taught his children to be honest and hard-working, mostly by his example. He will be deeply missed.
He leaves behind his wife; their seven children Janet (Guy) Ayers, John (Tracey), Kathy (Mike) Wilkinson, Janine, Richard, Mike (Tina), Francis (Andrea); and 7 grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by one grandson, Gianni Joseph.
Friends may call upon the family on Tuesday, May 10th from 6:00 until 8:00 PM at St. Thomas More Catholic Church, 3015 East Creek Road, Sandy, where a vigil will begin at 7:00 PM. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Wednesday, May 11th at 11:00 AM, also at the church. Interment Mount Calvary Catholic Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests offering donations in honor of Joseph to the Good Samaritan Program, 331 East South Temple, Salt Lake City.

Dearest Dad, not a day will go bye that you won't be thought of. Wherever we go, you will always be on our minds. I'm so very sorry we didn't act sooner to possibly make things easier on you. I know you fought hard to battle for your life. Tina and I will make sure Avery Joseph lives up to the remarkable attributes you had. Again, you will be sorely missed, but never ever forgotten. All my love, Mike Maurice
