Joseph (Joey) M. Vitek

February 25, 1969 - April 20, 2019

Joseph (Joey) Matthew Vitek, We got to enjoy 50 awesome years with our son, brother, brother-in-law, lifetime partner, grandpa and friend!
Joey came into our life when he met Margo approximately 20 years ago and became her lifetime partner, our brother-in-law, son-in-law and, our favorite Papa! He left us unexpectedly on April 20, 2019.

Joey was born Feb 25, 1969 in Beacon, New York. He loved and excelled in many sports, although his favorite sport was soccer.

Joey is survived by his life partner Margo Bravo, Father Joseph Vitek, Sisters Diana Grimont, Alayne Ricci, Brother David Vitek, nieces, nephews, grandkids and many loving family and friends .

Preceded in death by his mother: Linda Vitek

Joey loved being an instructor for Swift Transportation as much as he loved life. He loved going out and teaching other drivers how to operate big rigs. He drove over 6 million miles teaching hundred of students through his career as a semi truck instructor.

Joey was a great friend. On his days off, you would often find him helping others. If he wasn’t building someones deck, he was fixing someone’s roof. Joey made time to listen and would always give you friendly advice.

Throughout the years, Joey and Margo enjoyed hosting friends and family. There were multiple occasions where he would take over and become the incredible chef he was. Everyone enjoyed their special food dish that Joey would create.

One of Joey’s favorite activities was spending time with his five grandchildren; Kaylee, Elliana, Ethen, Markie, and Mariana. He knew how to make them each laugh, feel extremely loved and nobody gave better gifts than 'Papa' Joey.

We will miss you Joey. We will miss your gray baggy sweats and that BIG smile! You left us better than you found us. We were lucky to have you in our life and we are grateful for your kind and loving ways. We love you wholeheartedly.

A viewing will be held on Thursday, May 2, 2019 from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm at Starks Funeral Parlor, 3651 South 900 East, Salt Lake City.

Until we meet again!

My heart goes out to the family of my dear friend Margo, as it was through you and your family that I was fortunate to meet such and AMAZING man. I k ow Joey loved you all as it was very obvious when you saw the look on his face when in your presence, how proved he was when he watched Sandra walk down the isle, and when he watched your grandchildren. Although our hearts are heavy with this unexpected loss, heaven has gained a true Angel. I Love You All, and you are in my prayers as you go through this difficult time.

Such a shock to hear about Joey's passing.... even though we hadn't seen each other in over 25 years I have always felt our great friendship. From all the years of playing soccer with the East Fishkill Jaguars, hijacking a Cosmo player from a practice and playing a game on the field at Giant Stadium. All our crazy times throughout highschool and road trips to visit friends away at college. So sorry for everyone's loss.... " Joey, be sure that Al and I will have a pint or more together in your memory. Love you

My dear Margo and Family, I am so terribly saddened and amazed at the huge loss of your wonderful Joey. I just found out last night. What a very special, warm, kind, helpful, and talented man he was all the years we knew him as our neighbor! He never failed to lift your day with his smile and wave. We could never imagine that he would be taken back to heaven so early---I guess God just missed him too much and had too many mansions for him to build! I love you all since we both moved and hope to hear from you again soon Marilyn Nunez Hard Rock Circle buddy
