Josephine DuVee Urevig Pratt, 92, passed away peacefully on Saturday, August 8, 2026 at her home in Millcreek of natural causes. She was born July 19, 1934 in Herrick, South Dakota to Arthur and Isabelle Urevig. The family moved to Minnesota when she was six, where she lived until graduating from college. She had three sisters, Fran Sontag, Carmen Borgerding and Marge Gonzales, and one brother Tony Urevig.
Jo rode the train with her sister Carmen west to work in Yellowstone for 2 summers, where she met our dad, Tom Pratt. After graduation she came to Utah to stay. They were wed on December 29, 1956 in Salt Lake City, and were married for over 60 years until Dad’s death in 2017. They had 5 children Timothy (Terese), Jennifer Starr (Kevin), Beth Yenna, Ted (Cindie) and William (Bret).
She, along with our dad, lived an adventurous life of camping, hiking, backpacking, deep sea sailing & boating. They spent summers at the cabin in Holiday Park and wintered in Yuma, AZ for over 25 years. She was unwavering in her Catholic faith and lived a life of service to her church, neighbors and schools. She was in the Coast Guard Auxiliary and a Scout leader. She was an avid reader and writer with an incredible memory. Jo was well read and informed; and her opinion on any topic was always respected. She was unselfish to the core and would do anything for her people. She was the sweet and loving matriarch of our family and a second mother to many more. She showed us how to age with dignity and grace.
Jo is survived by her 5 children, 8 grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren and her sister Marge, as well as brother-in-law Joel Pratt (Jeannine) and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and siblings Fran, Carmen and Tony.
