Joshua grew up playing soccer, basketball, football, baseball and softball.  He loved camping, fishing, hunting, motorcycle riding, sports, and NASCAR.  He loved kids and kids loved him.  He was not only a great uncle but also a great “Big Bro”.

Joshua is survived by his father; mother; siblings Kasey Burgess, Glen “L’il Man” Burgess Jr., Samuel (Bobbie) Burgess, and Jodi Burgess-Penn; many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, and two grandmothers.

He is preceded in death by three grandfathers; one grandmother; cousin Jason Barrett; and friend Jeremy Hansen.

“God looked around the garden,

And found an empty space.

He looked down upon the earth,

And saw your tired face.

He put his arms around you,

And lifted you to rest.

God’s garden must be beautiful

For He only takes the best.

He knew that you were weary,

And He knew you were in pain.

He knew that you would never

Be well on earth again.

He saw the roads were getting rough,

And the hills were hard to climb.

So he closed your weary eyelids,

And whispered peace be thine.”

A viewing will be held on Friday, December 17th from 6 to 8 PM at the LDS Church at 7171 South 2700 West, West Jordan.  Funeral services will be held on Saturday, December 18th at 11:00 AM at a different LDS Church at 7265 South 2700 West, West Jordan, with a viewing one hour prior to services.  Interment to follow at Pleasant Green Cemetery, 3500 South 9000 West, Magna.

Thanks for all the caring people at Jordan Valley Hospital I.C.U. Unit, (especially Tina) who worked so hard to save Joshua.

“Squashy” you will be greatly missed and forever loved.

Even I , who fought with him, wouldn't have wished this. I miis him too! I miss the Christmas displays! He even shoveled out my driveway, with Orin's help. Best regards to the family, my next door neighbors of 28 years.

It was a sad day when we lost such a great guy like Josh. I watched him grow up along side my kids with that twinkle in his eye and that smile on his face. That same smile when he would tease and play with the little ones at the ball park like he was one of them. My heart goes out to the whole Burgess family for the loss of the son, brother, and uncle.

To the Burgess family, I am so sorry to hear of Josh passing. I remember him as such a cute guy, with his smile I remember thinking it was mischievious. He was friends with my younger son Jared and Jared had so much fun with him. I also know Jody and Sam. My heart goes out to you all. Such a terrible loss for your family and everyone who knew and loved him. My thoughts and prayers are with you.
