Joshua N. Ray

January 21, 1984 - February 13, 2024

Joshua N. Ray, of Salt Lake City, Utah passed away unexpectedly at his home on February 13, 2024. He was 40 years old.

The youngest of three children, Josh was born January 21,1984 to Lindy Tallent and Danny Dee Ray at LDS hospital in Salt Lake City. He grew up mostly in Alaska, on the island of Kodiak where he graduated high school and was a Volunteer Fire Fighter with the Bayside Fire and Rescue department. His love of this line of service work did not stop throughout his life; his work history included time as an EMT, a 911 Dispatcher, an Alaska State Trooper (the youngest ever at that time to graduate), and a nurse and nurse leader for Joyce University of Nursing and Health Sciences where he held the position of Director of Innovation.

Though a quiet and private person, Josh carried himself with dignity and strength while continuously looking out for those in need. He was fearless and independent, yet sensitive and incredibly passionate. His unique sense of humor and wit broke the ice and brought people together. He enjoyed sharing outdoor activities with others: riding bikes, ATVs, hiking, camping, and loved the dogs he had over time: Kenai, Dakota, and Wilbur.

Josh is survived by his father Danny Dee Ray and his brothers Jason and Jamie Ray. He is preceded in death by mother Lindy Tallent, grandmother Rae Lynn Ray, his uncle Richard Lee Ray, and aunt Kathy Ray. We will remember Josh for all the time and heart he shared with his friends, family, and colleagues. He will be missed dearly.

A celebration of life will be held for him on June 14th, 2024 at 4:00 PM at Joyce University in Draper, 12257 Business Park Drive. All who knew and cared for Josh are welcome to attend.
