Joslyn Nicole Spilsbury Schofield
May 11, 1970 - June 8, 2018
It is with tremendous sorrow that the family of Joslyn Nicole Spilsbury announces her recent passing. We lost the most beautiful and kind soul in a tragic event.
Joslyn Nicole Spilsbury was born in Salt Lake City, Utah on May 11, 1970 and passed suddenly on June 8, 2018. She attended East High School in Salt Lake City. She later achieved a Bachelor's of Arts in Sociology at the University of Utah. Ultimately, her education culminated in a Master's Degree in Sociology a the University of Minnesota in Duluth.
Joslyn helped countless people as a mental health therapist, specializing in grief counseling and trauma related issues.
She was an incredibly warm and loving person who could light up a room with her smile and infectious laugh. She was a champion of the underserved and defenseless. She will be greatly missed but lovingly remembered.
A celebration of her life will be held on Wednesday, June 13, 2018 from 6:00 – 8:00 PM at Starks Funeral Parlor, 3651 South 900 East, Salt Lake City. Guests are encouraged to use the complimentary valet parking on the north side of the building.
In Loving Memory
Dear Joslyns family, I am so sorry for your loss. I knew her when she lived in Olympus Cove and would join us for a dinner group of women in the neighborhood. She was so warm, inclusive, and her smile would light up the room. What a tragedy. My prayers are with you all during this tragic time.

You do not know me and I do not know you but I got to know Joslyn on Facebook in sometimes fierce discussions about politics and other matters. We always kept respect for each other and I started to appreciate her personality very much. Again, from other Facebook friends I got newspaper clippings from the tragic accident which brought a sudden end to her life too short, It was hard to believe that we had had our very last discussion on Facebook ever. If one can say that I got to know her a littlebit, as far as one can on a medium like Facebook, I knew she was always concerned with people who are an underdog in society, who feel without means to defend themselves. She hoped her daughter would one day look up to her as she did to her mother. She was a person worth knowing. I valued her very much as a Facebook friend I had never met. I am convinced she will continue to spread her wonderful spirit in the realm where she is now. May God bless her and her family, who I am very sure will greatly miss her. I am thankful to have considered her among my most valued Facebook acquaintences. Thank you for having crossed paths with you Joslyn.

Most sincere condolences for the tragic loss of Joslyn. Death is and enemy that can fill us with pain and sorrow. please know that there is comfort in God's promise to reunite us with our loved ones, never having to say goodbye again. Jesus is going to make this earth the problem-free paradise that his Father intended it to be. The Bible at Revelation 21:4 says: "And he will wipe out every tear from their eyes, and death will be no more, neither will mourning nor outcry nor pain be anymore. The former things have passed away." ; John 5:28, 29: "Do not be amazed at this, for the hour is coming in which all those in the memorial tombs will hear his voice " and come out, those who did good things to a resurrection of life, ...." People all over the earth have gained comfort and strength from knowing this, may you and your family do the same. Please visit jw..org

Joslyn was so wonderful. I moved to Utah last year and we met at our local park and became fast friends since our girls were close in age. She was real, and kind, and smart, and she was a great mom. She was the kind of person that you could share anything with, and be your true self with (even the messy parts), and she gave zero judgement and so much understanding. We had many really meaningful conversations and in the short time that I knew her she truly made such a positive impact on my life. I'm grateful for her openness and compassion and fun, bubbly personality that just made a person feel good to be near her. My heart breaks for her and all of you, especially sweet Lily. Sending all of my love and wishing you peace in this incredibly difficult time.

My heart was broken when I learned of Joslyn's passing. She was our neighbor. Every time I saw her she was so lovely and kind. She was such a darling mother, I always enjoyed seeing her walk by with her daughter. They were adorable together. A few days before she passed I noticed that she was especially happy. She was light on her feet and practically glowing. I heard her laughing last week and I thought how wonderful it was that she had found happiness. I barely knew her but you could tell that the sun shone brighter when she was around. I will never forget her or the simple and kind conversations we had in passing. She will be missed.

I met Joslyn during undergrad classes in sociology. She struck me then as such a vibrant and intelligent woman. And she has crossed my mind over the years. This is a true tragedy. Joslyn was obviously loved and loved those around her, including her daughter. It breaks my heart that she was taken from her loved ones so early.
