Joyce Louise Dotterer-Zitting
June 23, 1937 - October 9, 2021
Joyce Zitting, age 84, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her family, on October 9, 2021, due to a brief illness, and congestive heart failure.
She was born, June 23, 1937, in Pittsburg, Pennsylvania to Ronald and Emma Dotterer. She married Gordon Zitting August 19th, 1967.
Joyce was a vibrant, loving person, who lived for her children. She had four daughters, and three sons. She had a love for her family, that will be remembered and cherished for years to come. Her children gave her twenty-one grandchildren, and five great grandchildren, whom she loved with all her heart.
Joyce grew up, and went to school, in Pennsylvania. When she was young, she and her first daughter Kelley, moved to Phoenix, Arizona, and she loved the desert and the palm trees. When she met Gordon, they traveled, and Joyce would often share stories of their adventures, and how she fell in love with Gordon. They settled in Murray, Utah, and later moved to her dream home, in Sandy Utah, near Little Cottonwood Canyon. She would often say, “I wanted a big family, so that you would all have each other”. She was an only child. Joyce spent most of the 70’s and 80’s raising her children. She worked for Deseret Medical for three years, and went on to work in Senior home health care, in the late 1980’s.
She was a loving, giving mother, that loved to shop and cook for her kids. She later moved back to warmer weather, where she owned a home in Ivins, Utah. She was happy, and back in the desert, where she took care of her favorite doggie, Blondie. She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ, and Latter-day Saints, and she went through the Saint George Temple, in the Spring of 2001. She volunteered at the temple in Saint George, for three years. She later moved back to the Salt Lake area, to be near her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. Joyce had a personality and charisma, that often drew you in. Her smile would light up a room. One of her greatest passions, was music and dancing. She loved to show her affection, with hugs and kisses, and had the best words of encouragement. She often complimented with “You look like a million bucks!” She always wanted to make people feel important to her and loved. She is preceded in death by her mother Emma, father Ronald, and Blondie (her fur baby). She is survived by Gordon Zitting, and children, Kelley George (Tom), Judy Marchant (Darren), Laura Zitting, David Zitting (Tracy), Jeffrey Zitting (Rhiannon), Jennifer Orvis-Corey, and Tommy Zitting (Kristi).
We Love You Mom and will miss you very much!
