Judith Ann Ashby, lovingly known as “Judy,” passed away peacefully on May 10, 2026. Judy was born on September 18, 1940, in Grand Rapids, Michigan, to Robert and Elinor Veenstra. She grew up alongside her siblings, Mary and Robert, in a close family that helped shape her gentle and caring nature.
She was a devoted wife to her husband, Kenneth, with whom she shared 40 years of marriage built on love and companionship.
Judy was the proud mother of Laura Lucas, Scott Taylor, Cindy Lloyd, Susan Schreiber, and Steve Taylor. Her family was the center of her life, and she loved each of her children deeply and unconditionally.
More than anything, Judy was an artist at heart. Art was her passion and a reflection of the beauty and peace she carried within herself. She expressed her creativity through watercolor, acrylic, and oil painting, creating works that reflected both her talent and her appreciation for life’s quiet moments.
As the daughter of a veterinarian, Judy developed a lifelong love for animals. She found comfort and joy in their companionship and cared deeply for all living things.
Those who knew Judy will remember her as kind, loving, and sincere. She lived simply. Though private by nature, her warmth and compassion were felt deeply by the people fortunate enough to know her.
Judy’s legacy lives on through her family, her art, and the gentle example she set through a life lived with grace, humility, and love. She will be dearly missed and lovingly remembered always.
A Celebration of her Life will be held on June 10, 2026 from 6:00 until 8:00 PM at Starks Funera Parlor, 3651 South 900 East, Salt Lake City. Guests are encouraged to park and enter on the north side of the building. Share your photos and memories with her family a www.starksfuneral.com
