Judith (Judy) Ann Ross Gaddis

August 30, 1944 - March 19, 2021

Judith (Judy) Ann Ross Gaddis passed away on the evening of March 19, 2021 in Salt Lake City, Utah. Judy was 76 years old and was surrounded by her family and friends in her final days. Judy was born in Memphis, Tennessee on August 30, 1944 and raised in Salt Lake City, Utah from the age of three. She was the oldest of three siblings born to Winona Webster Ross and Gilbert Dean Ross. Judy graduated from West High School in 1962 and received a B.A. from the University of Utah in 1966. She married Glen Warren Gaddis in 1968 in Salt Lake City, Utah. They were married for 47 years. They had two boys, Ethan Ross Gaddis and Benjamin Ty Gaddis.

Judy loved Salt Lake City and enjoyed supporting Utah families through her work at Head Start and the Utah Division of Child and Family Services as well as her time just after retirement volunteering for the local YWCA. She had a quick wit and dry sense of humor both of which many will remember her for. She enjoyed camping with her family and traveling to Europe and Africa with her husband, family, and friends. She was an avid reader and life-long learner. Her sons, grandsons, siblings, niece and nephews, and friends were the joy of her life. Judy will be missed by her family and friends.

Judy was preceded in death by her father Gilbert Dean Ross, mother Winona Webster Ross, and husband Glen Warren Gaddis. She is survived by her sons, Ethan Ross Gaddis and Benjamin (Erica) Ty Gaddis, grandsons, Grayson Francis Gaddis, Dylan Ross Gaddis, and Julian Warren Gaddis of Salt Lake City, UT, sister, Nancy Ross Olmore of Golden, CO, and brother, Terrell W. (Terry) Ross of Denver, CO.

A short memorial service will be held on Saturday, August 28, 2021 at 12:00 pm at Starks Funeral Parlor followed by a celebration of Judy’s life. In lieu of flowers, donations in Judy’s name should be made to the Utah YWCA or the Utah Food Bank.

In Loving Memory

What a great photo to remember Judy! Martin and I will remember her for her witty remarks and her friendship. We have memories of many good times together with Judy and Warren. Also, Judy and I shared memorable times with just the two of us and with other friends. Her spirit lives on through you - her family. Sending love to you all. Jan

I met Judy when we were both at the U, and was living with her when she met Warren and I met my husband, Steve.  We both knew our guys only a short time when we got married, and were both still together at 50 years, pretty amazing. I lost touch with her when we moved away, and am sorry I never succeeded in reconnecting.  She was a good and deeply trusted  friend.

Helped to rip families apart and not help put them back together. She helped take my daughter away and I now forgive her, now it is up to God to do what he feels should be done.

I enjoyed Judy's company in a book club years ago when our children were young.  I remember the lively conversations we had and the laughter.  Judy was so much fun!  I send my condolences for your loss.
