Julene Packard Brewer is a difficult person to describe. From the minute she was born, she was full of surprises. Her mother Dick Almond Packard was 41 years old, and her father David Russell Packard was 44 years old in 1935 when, surprise, Julene was born. Her sister Patricia Packard Lees was 12 and her brother Russell Almond Packard was 11. She was a delightful surprise to all. Her best friend was her mother who died when Julene was just 14. Fortunately, her saving grace was her Aunt Becky Almond who became her guardian angel.
Julene was strikingly beautiful, I mean gorgeous. But surprisingly, behind that beauty was an intelligent, sensitive, humorous, loving human being. She was spirited. By that I mean she could throw a tantrum like no other, but, man, she made everything fun. She was married to Tom Brewer because he was a solid straight forward and patient man who gave her stability. He became a brigadier general, and she was so proud of him. Together, they had two sons, Dane Packard Brewer and Chad West Brewer. She adored them and they her. They were devoted to her and took such good care of her. Dane gave his mother her only grandchild Paige McCarty-Sims, and Chad gave her his husband Trent Larson who became like another son. She was always close to her nieces and nephews. She made friends wherever she went. She was so full of life that is unbearable to think she has left us. She always said, “Just cremate me and spread my ashes in Nordstrom’s.” However, we are not going to do that.
A viewing will be on Friday, May 29. 2026 from 11:00 AM – 12:00 PM at Starks Funeral Parlor, 3651 South 900 East. Guests are encouraged to use the parking and entrance on the north side of the building. Funeral service will begin at 12:00 PM, also at Starks Funeral Parlor. She will be laid to rest following the service at Salt Lake City Cemetery, 200 N St E, Salt Lake City, UT.
