Katherine Manousakis Zervos
November 9, 1934 - January 17, 2026
Our beloved Mother, Sister, Yiayia, and Super-Yiayia, Katherine “Katina” Manousakis Zervos, passed away at the age of 91 on January 17, 2026 peacefully and surrounded by family, from Influenza A.
Katherine was born on November 9, 1934, in Malaxa, Crete, Greece, to Helen Kournianakis Manousakis and George Emmanuel Manousakis. She was the eldest of nine children. She later immigrated to the United States, where she married Joseph Steve Zervos on July 7, 1957, in Salt Lake City, Utah. Their marriage took place at Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Cathedral, where Katherine remained a devoted and faithful parishioner throughout her life.
Katherine instilled a deep love for faith, family, community, and Greek culture in her children. She was an active steward of the Greek Orthodox Church and a lifelong member of the Philoptochos Society and the Daughters of Minos. In recognition of her devotion to family and service, she was honored by the Philoptochos Society in 2017 and as Mother of the Year by the Daughters of Minos in 2019.
Her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren were the light of her life and her greatest joy. Katherine was known for her love of Greek cooking, especially her baklava, galaktoboureko, kalitsounia, koulouria, kourabiedes, and diples. Like many Greek mothers, she found immense joy in feeding, caring for, and bringing her family together around the table.
Katherine’s life was one of faith, love, generosity, and devotion to family.
Katherine is survived by her two daughters, Helen (George) Condas of Mission Viejo, California, and Christie (Terry) Tatum of Salt Lake City, Utah; her grandchildren, Annie (Steve) Burkel, Gregory (Kristen) Condas, and Katina (Patrick McHugh) Tatum; and her great-grandchildren, Eliana, Zoey, and Lilly, who brought her endless happiness.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Joseph S. Zervos; her parents, George E. and Helen K. Manousakis; her brothers Michael “Mitch” Manousakis and Emmanuel “Mike” Manousakis; her sister Athena Proestakis; her brothers-in-laws Micheal Zervos, Andreas Zervos, Kosta Zervos, Nick Proestakis, Deno Kambouris and Yanni Daskalakis; sisters-in-laws Stephania Zervos, Aliki Zervos, Argyro Vaigionakis, Anna Pappadakis, Fofo Zervos, Margie Manousakis, and Maria Daskalakis; and nieces and nephews Georgette Proestakis-Smith (Vaughn), Micheal Zervos Jr. (Dimitra) and Chryssi Zervos Kocolas.
She is survived by siblings Mary Kambouris, Presbytera Zoe (Fr. George) Politis, Fr. Nicholas (Presbytera Kostoula) Manousakis, Sophia (Steve Bassett) Manousakis, Dessie Manousakis and many loving nieces and nephews in the United States and Greece.
The family extends a heartfelt thank you to Dr. David Kuo for his many years of compassionate medical care and to the Neighborhood House for their love and support.
A viewing will be held on Friday, January 23, 2026 at Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Cathedral, 279 South 300 West, Salt Lake City, Utah at 10:00 a.m. The funeral will follow at 11:00 a.m. The Interment will be at Mount Olivet Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, Katherine requested that donations be made to the Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Cathedral and Prophet Elias Greek Orthodox Church.

I will always remember Mrs. Zervous and Mr. Zervous. As a child I was always excited when we went to the Zervous house. Mr. Zervous always made me laugh. All the road trips and Mrs. Zervous' pastries. Συλλυπητήρια και Αἰωνία ἡ μνήμη.
