Kathi grew up in a loving family to Patsy and Clarence "Fergie" Ferguson. She moved to Utah where she married and later divorced John L. Smith. In 1985 Kathi met her soul mate Jim Galusha and was married April 3, 1993.
Kathi was a loving wife and mother to Dorothy Jo Smith and Suzanne Carol Anderson. She was a dedicated student in achieving both her Bachelor's and Master's Degree in Business and Accounting. Kathi never sat down; she was always busy with family and friends. She loved camping, cooking for large group gatherings and vacationing in Cancun, Mexico.

She is preceded in death by her father Clarence "Fergie" Ferguson and Grandmother Dorothy Goodman.
Kathi would like to thank the men and women of the Salt Lake City Fire Department, as they are a part of her extended family.
In Loving Memory
Galusha family, I'm so sorry to hear this terrible news. Kathi was so full of energy and willing to take on anything. She was helping me on my new job the night before the tragedy, even when she was fairly new to the same process. She will be missed.

What a wonderful person Kathi was. I have worked with her at DNR for many years--she was one of the great accountants that I have worked with. She was very smart and I trusted her opinion. We had some good times at work and always joked we would go drink margaritas. I will drink a margarita in your memory--Cheers Kathi may you rest in peace and you will be greatly missed.

I am so sorry to hear of the passing of Kathi. I had the privilege of meeting Kathi when she started working in DHS Finance many years ago. She was always a go getter and willing to help in any way she could. I am pleased to have had the opportunity of working with her over the years. She will greatly be missed by many. God Bless

I am in complete shock. Kathi was such an amazing person. So full of life and energy. The hardest working person I've ever met and with such compassion and love for all those around her. I have no idea what H&R Block will do without her. I'll miss her terribly. Kathi, I loved you. Thanks for all you did for me over the years. With deep, deep sorrow. Kris Trout

I worked with Kathi at DSPD for years. (Also worked with Dorothy.)Prompt hard working, detailed, and caring. She was so determined and helpful to people so they understood the state finance process. She was such a fast mover and what a brilliant smile. She could really provide a delicious smorgasbord for the office. Her way of being generous to us and of saying Thanks!!. She was a fun and a wonderful person and loved her family dearly.. I am shocked to hear of her passing at such a young age. I am so sorry for your loss and my thoughts and prayers are with each of you as you hold Kathi in your heart and move on. I remember her with love.

I just wanted to take a second to say how terribly saddened I was to call H&R Block to schedule this year and find out that Kathi is no longer with us. We had been going to her for several years now and always looked forward to seeing her. She was always so amazingly friendly & compassionate. We went in and saw someone else & I was in tears cause you dont realize how much someone affects your life until they are no longer there. She was a beautiful human being and I am so sorry for your loss. After getting to see her once a year, I can only imagine how great of a loss she is to your loved ones. Our thoughts & prayers are with you!
