Kelly Deloras Cassell
May 27, 1955 - August 26, 2018
Our Mother, Grandmother, Daughter, Aunt, Sister, Mother-in-law and greatest friend, Kelly Deloras Cassell passed unexpectedly from our arms to our Dad's awaiting arms on August 26th, 2018, after a brief and intense illness.
She was born on May 27th, 1955 to her mother Leadell Davis Nielsen and father Virgil Cook. Her Mother later divorced and remarried Carl D. Nielsen, who subsequently adopted our mother and her siblings. She graduated from Bonneville High School in Idaho Falls, ID. Kelly married and had two daughters, Cori Lee and Casey Lyn. Kelly was later divorced.
Kelly married her soul mate and best friend James (Jim) Cassell on December 24, 1984. Jim later adopted Cori and Casey. We frequently reminded our mother of our gratitude for picking and finding our dad. He truly loved our mother every single day he was alive.
Our mom was a brilliant, driven, creative and loving woman. She was passionate about her family, cooking and loved to feed everyone that came to the house. Her favorite night of the week was Friday night. She loved to have people over and feeding them! She loved her soap operas, gardening and the food channel!
Our mom absolutely loved being a grandmother. Truly it was her greatest joy to spoil all 6 of her grandchildren rotten. She loved to play video games right alongside them. She always made everyone's birthday and holidays very special. A favorite quote from our Mom, "let's play a quick game!" She will be truly missed.
Kelly Cassell is survived by her mother Leadell Nielsen. Daughter Cori (Derrick) Ward, daughter Casey (Steve Warner) Cassell. Six grandchildren, Alex (Taylor) Saville, Scarlett (Aaron) Butcher, Harrison (Kourtney) Saville, Jeremie Saville, Jr., Phoenix Saville and Damien Warner. And 5 great grandchildren, MaeBelle & Jude Saville, Violet & James Saville and Maximus Butcher. She leaves behind her brothers Pete (Linda) Nielsen, Pat (Rexann) Nielsen and sister Carla (Chris) Snyder. As well as her most loved nieces and nephews.
Preceded in Death by her husband James Cassell, Son-in-law Jeremie Saville and her brother Perry Nielsen. We know Dad scooped you up into his awaiting arms and Uncle Perry begged for fried spam!
We are incredibly thankful for Intermountain Medical Center Shock/Trauma ICU for taking such compassionate and amazing care of our Mom. We are so grateful for Troy and Melissa Norton who gave up their own time to help in the care of our Mother. You both brought great joy to her these last few months and brought a smile we had not seen for many years.
We will be having a celebration of life on Saturday, September 22, 2018 from 4:00 to 7:00 PM at her home, 1229 East Charlton Avenue, Salt Lake City, Utah.
In Loving Memory
