Kelly Suzanne Frye-Glasser

1957~2010

The sunlight of our world has dimmed substantially with the tragic passing of our beloved daughter, sister, wife, mother and friend, Kelly Suzanne Frye-Glasser.  Kelly and her husband Joseph "Joe" John Glasser passed away Sunday, August 1, 2010, as the result of a tragic accident. Their untimely passing leaves a void in the lives of countless people.

Kelly was born on December 8, 1957 in Vermont, Illinois to parents Roy Lee Frye and Betty June Danner.

Kelly and Joe were married September 9, 2001 in California.  Together, they shared several years of love.

Kelly is survived by her son Dylan Terrence Tice, 23, and her daughter Annie Elizabeth Tice, 13, born to Kelly and former husband Philip Tice.  Although Kelly and Philip divorced, they remained life-long friends.  She is additionally survived by her mother Betty; and two sisters Dixie (Cliff) Thalwitzer of Summerfield, Florida and Kris (Steven) Fawcett of Washington, Missouri.  Kelly was preceded in death by her father Roy Lee Frye.

Family was important to Kelly, she loved and treasured her children Dylan and Annie with all her heart.  Kelly leaves behind her “other babies,” her trusty beagles Brody and Roxy.

Kelly spent the early years of her life in and around Vermont, Illinois. She then completed undergraduate degrees in English and History from Western Illinois University, Macomb, Illinois.  Kelly was awarded her J.D. by the J. Rueben Clark Law School at Brigham Young University in 1992 and most recently worked as a Guardian ad Litem for the State of Utah.

Kelly will always be our hero and was well known throughout the state as an “ultimate champion for children" and was a tireless crusader for those who otherwise lacked a voice.  She was passionate about her work, constantly striving to change children's lives for the better.  Kelly was charged with a contagious positive energy and no matter what task she undertook, she did so with full intent and the utmost commitment.  For as hard as she worked, Kelly also liked to play. Whether she was hiking in the Wasatch Mountains, skiing at Alta, or taking photographs, Kelly loved spending time in nature where she was truly in her element. She also loved music, particularly the work of Bob Dylan.

When asked what he learned from his mother, son Dylan summed up her philosophy beautifully:

"Embrace Life. Do what you love to do and don't let anyone tell you differently.”

A viewing will be held for family and friends on Friday, August 6, 2010, from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. at Grace Lutheran Church, 1815 East 9800 South, Sandy, Utah, where a prayer services will begin at 8:00 PM.

In Loving Memory

Kelly was an intelligent and dynamic woman with an unmatched humor and compassion. She was my friend. When I think of Kelly, I recall a late season outdoor concert we attended with our husbands. By the time the headliners appeared, the temperature had dropped to 31 degrees. Kelly, wrapped in blankets and scarves, turned to me and said ?what are we doing here?' Then we looked at our husbands, who, oblivious to the cold, were singing loudly to the music. She looked back at me and smiled. Kelly loved Joe so much. And Kelly loved Dylan and Annie. When we commuted to Provo together several years ago, she would often speak about her dreams for their future. Kelly was a remarkable lady who loved life. She will be greatly missed by many. My heart goes out to her family---and Joe's. Susan Landgraf

We only met Kelly a few times, but that's all it took to know that she was a very loving and caring person. We bonded over the love of our children, and our outlooks for the future. The first time we saw Kelly and Joe together, it was obvious they were meant for each other. It's good to know that Kellys' compassionate heart will live on thru her children which she loved so much. We met Kelly through our daughter Alex, who went to school with Annie. Whie we didn't know Kelly well, it was obvious she was a dedicated woman with a sense of humor and love of life. I know she will be greatly missed by her family and friends. Love and prayers to Annie and Dylan and Phil.

I was stunned and saddened upon reading about Kelly. The world lost a tremendous amount of intelligence and creativity with her passing. My thoughts are with those she left behind. I'm sure her spirit will live on through them. Childhood friend and former classmate Wendy Danner

Kelly was my GAL she was the most amazing person I have ever meet. She always believed I could go home no matter what. Kelly was one of the few people that loved me for me. She always told me that how beautiful I was and how smart I was and to put it to good use. Being a GAL to her wasn't just a job it was her life. She cared a lot about kids like me. I will never forget her beautiful face, her funny personality, and her caring soul. I love Kelly and will pray to her all the time. I will miss her so much. Everything I do is for her. I want her to know she made a difference in my life. I will do my best in life and be succesful because Kelly told me I could. I love you Kelly. You never stopped believing in me.
