Kenniston Lester Ogden

Our beloved Father passed peacefully at the age of 88 in Salt Lake City on December 14, after a short illness.
Born to Kenniston Ogden SR and Annafred Edith Stellings September 22, 1930 in San Jose, CA. He graduated from San Francisco Polytechnic High School and after attended college for a short time. He joined the U.S. Navy where as an Aviation Electronics Technician he was aircrew and crew chief on Albatross flying boats performing Air-Sea rescue during the Korean Conflict.
Upon Honorable Discharge as a First Class Petty Officer Ken retuned to college using the GI Bill and renewed his relationship with Dorothy Jane Phillips. They wed while he was completing his Bachelors degree in Electrical Engineering at the University of California Berkley. Moving to Salt Lake City to accept a position with Sperry Gyro he stayed with the company until he retired as a Director of Research and Development at Unisys at age 58.
After Jane passed in 1984, Ken remarried to Elva Allred with whom he remained until his passing.
An intellectually curious person he continued to learn new skills and topics and be involved with friends and family in many activities. Camping and assisting Jane in rock hunting and geology consumed many weekends and summers. Willing to try his hand at crafts he was both a fine woodworker and vehicle mechanic; building furniture for family and assisting many friends when they were in need. He was deeply involved with the Utah Girl Scout Council and the Utah Rock Art Society. Travel with Elva became his passion after retirement including Photo Safari in Africa, educational elder hostile trips to Norway and Arizona, and many travels to Nova Scotia and Alaska in their motorhome.
He leaves behind his heartbroken family including wife Elva; son Richard Ogden (Pauline); daughters Katharine Greenlee and Edith VanOrden (John Bigbie); stepson Gregory Smith (Jan); and stepdaughter Sherry Goodfellow (Jim). He was also a well loved and respected grandfather and great grandfather.
His life will be celebrated Friday, December 21, 2018 from 6:00-8:00pm at Starks Funeral Parlor, 3651 South 900 East, Salt Lake City. Guest are encouraged to use the complimentary valet parking on the north side of the building.
