Kevin Charles Facemyer

March 21, 1966 - July 17, 2025

Kevin Charles Facemyer passed away in his sleep on July 17, 2025, at the age of 59.
Kevin was born on March 21, 1966, in Des Moines, Iowa, to Geneva and Walter Facemyer. He was one of ten children, with five biological siblings and five adopted siblings, and grew up surrounded by love, laughter, and deep family bonds.
Kevin attended Cottonwood High School, where he was a standout athlete. He excelled in many sports and proudly earned a state record for medley relay in track and  served on the seminary council his Senior year. He loved reminiscing about his high school memories.
Following high school, Kevin served a mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in the Christchurch, New Zealand Mission from 1985 to 1987. His mission deepened his testimony and strengthened his love for service.
On June 18, 1988, Kevin married  Karyn Hartkopf. Together they were blessed with four children. Being a father and grandfather brought him great joy. His love of basketball and watching the Utah Jazz rubbed off on his children, and his two sons followed in his footsteps of being on their high school basketball teams. His love of camping and jet skiing created great memories.
Kevin spent his career compassionately working with mentally and physically challenged adults and helped those individuals live with dignity.
Kevin was preceded in death by his parents, Walter and Geneva Facemyer; his brothers, Charles and Frederick Facemyer; and niece, Joanna Facemyer.
He is survived by longtime nag  <3 and former wife, Karyn Facemyer; his children:  Kylie (Josh), Kelsie (Josh), Kalin and Kaiden as well as 6 grandchildren: Ella, Eli, Nora, Korben, Sterling, Amelia and more on the way. Also, his siblings: Tonya, Kim, Doug (Stephanie), David (Kellie), Kelly, Micah (Shanice), Ashley and Madison, as well as many cherished nieces and nephews.
Kevin’s legacy of kindness and joking personality will last with all who were lucky enough to know him. He will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
Service will be held in the stake building of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Taylorsville located at 3555 west, 5620 south on Wednesday, July 30 2025 at 11 am. Respects paid to the closed casket at 10am. A graveside service at Elysian Burial Gardens to follow.

In Loving Memory

Kiven's absence will be deeply felt by his children, siblings, and family. I had the privilege of both playing football with Kiven and residing in close proximity to him for a significant portion of my life. He was, without a doubt, an exceptional individual.

I had the privilege of serving a mission for the LDS Church in New Zealand the same years as Kevin. Kevin was always happy, spontaneous and fun to work with. We will all miss him so very much. May Gods richest blessing of peace and comfort be with his family. Kia Kaha Kevin.

I had the privilege of serving with Kevin in Masterton New Zealand, when we were Missionaries for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. He was my District Leader. He was always uplifting and full of life. And yes, Basketball was always a topic around him. He and his Comp, Petersen, arranged a Basketball game against one of NZ's amateur BB teams.... Pres Baxter allowed it as long as they had the News Media to civet it. It was a sweet expedition. I will cherish the few months I served with him. Go forth my Brutha. God speed. To my beloved friend Kevin, You were more than a friend, you were my brother. We walked through so much of life together—the good, the hard, and everything in between. You taught me so much, like love, patience, and quiet strength. You taught me what it means to truly care, to show up, and to grow with someone. Some of my best memories, and hardest lessons, I shared with you. And I wouldn’t trade any of it. You left a mark on my life that will never fade. I love you, Kevin, and I always will. You’ll always be with me Kev. Scott Petersen

I remember the Kevin I met when he came over to Australia and when we visited back in '96 fun, happy and always up for the next adventure. He conned my husband into bungy jumping by pretending to get himself a pass first and when he got to the top he said you go first..that's the Kevin we will remember. Love to you all from the Aussie family.xxx
