Kevin Roy Moore
February 13, 1964 - February 11, 2026
Kevin Roy Moore passed away peacefully on February 11, 2026 after a long journey with pancreatic cancer.
Kevin was born on February 13, 1964 in Southern California to Roy and Shirley Moore. He grew up in San Pedro and went on to study biochemistry at University of California Riverside. He met his wife, Margaret Roche Moore, while windsurfing then stayed on for a year to complete his masters in biochemistry. They then moved to Boston for his medical school education at Tufts University. He completed his intern year of training in Portland, Oregon, where his children Hannah and Andrew were born. His family moved to Utah for his residency in radiology, which led to a deeply fulfilling and rewarding career in pediatric neuroradiology. He was known for his thoughtful and apt insights and loved by his colleagues at Primary Children’s Hospital. He enjoyed biking to work in any season, sun or snow, and completed numerous cycling, running, and triathlon events in his lifetime. His dad jokes were unparalleled. When he was diagnosed with metastatic pancreatic cancer in 2020, the world changed in every way, but he responded to his diagnosis with an impressive peace, courage, resolve, and grace. His team of physicians was innovative and met the challenge with bravery to give him his best chance at life. His family would like to thank his medical team and especially Dr. Mark Lewis and Dr. Laura Lambert for their unwavering courage and support. And he did – living to see many more birthdays, milestones, international bike trips, concerts, and everyday moments than could have ever been hoped. He lived with the utmost grace and strength. He passed away peacefully at home surrounded by family. He was preceded in death by his father and survived by his wife, mother, and children in addition to his brothers and sisters in law, plus nieces and nephews.
Services will be held on Thursday February 26, 2026 from 6-9pm at Starks Funeral Parlor, 3651 South 900 East, Salt Lake City, Utah. Guests are encouraged to park and enter on the north side of the building. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network and Primary Children’s Hospital.

Always, figuratively and literally, a bright light when we bumped into each other, Kevin also taught me how to poach the local swimming hole in the middle of the night. All of my love to Margaret, Hannah, and Andrew.

I had the opportunity to work with Dr Moore between 2019 and 2022. Dr Moore had a contagious, optimistic demeanor and wonderful sense of humor. It was always a good working day when I was assigned to work with him. I’m sorry for his loss. Condolences to the Moore Family, he will be missed.

What a great man! What a great friend! What a great physician, teacher and colleague! I'm so grateful Kevin was given 6 years after his diagnosis to continue to live life in its fullest and to enrich the lives of many others, my own included. May you be blessed with peace in his passing and joy in your memories of this good man!

Ohhhh Dr. Moore - I was privileged to work with him as a Pediatric Brain Tumor RN Coordinator since 2014 - he was so wonderful and had the best sense of humor and used it often in tumor boards, which I appreciated! He was a talented neuro-radiologist and was truly and genuinely kind, compassionate, and did love his work. We’re all going to miss him! Thank you to his family for sharing him with all of us @ Primary Children’s Hospital - staff, patients and parents. May you be granted an extra amount of peace and love at this most difficult time 😢🎗️💛

Margaret, Hannah and Andrew, Thinking of you all during this sad time. I will always cherish the memories of Kevin. Fondly remembering Thanksgivings at Jon and Barbs, Bolder Boulder Runs, and meeting up with you on cycling trips. I have enjoyed seeing your fabulous photos of overseas adventures these past few years. Kevin accomplished more in the last 5 years than most people accomplish in a lifetime. A ferocious warrior, on a bike or running, even skiing and fighting his cancer. Sending you all huge hugs, Elisabeth

I came to know Kevin and Margaret from doing the week-long bicycle ride Ride The Rockies on several occasions with them as part of a group. Kevin was an outstanding athlete and a really nice guy, with a great sense of humor and a terrific intellect. He brought joy and high energy to the event. My deepest condolences to his family and friends.

Oh Kevin, what a wonderful colleague and person! It was such a pleasure and honor to work with you. You were such a bright light in our Friday morning conferences, and in so many other collaborations. You were always patient and generous with your time, and so thoughtful in your evaluation of our patients. Your wry sense of humor was always appreciated. Your courage and equanimity were inspiring. We will miss you immensely and send our love to you and your family.

Though we had just a brief time together in France, Kevin's joie de vivre came through loud and clear and made an indelible impression on Janet, Joe and myself. He was an inspiration in how he battled his disease but made such an effort to keep enjoying travel, wine, cycling, and his amazing family. Cheers to you Kevin!

I am so sorry to learn of Kevin’s passing. While I've mostly only followed your lives on social media since our time living in SLC, I’ve so enjoyed sharing holiday cards and vicariously riding with you on the bike treks. My deepest condolences to you, Hannah and Andy. We remember you all so fondly - you planted/watered the love of the outdoors and running and cycling in us. Wishing you strength and peace. I think Kevin was so tall because he needed room for his huge heart! I always enjoyed his cheerful greetings and encouraging words when he passed me on the trail at Mountain Dell. Our sympathies to Margaret and the kids for their great loss.

Kevin was a GIANT! (and not because he was tall) He was a wonderful friend, neighbor and colleague. He was always a wonderful resource of medical knowledge during the many years we worked together at Primary Childrens Hospital. He had a deep understanding of pediatric radiology and was patiently willing to share that knowledge with us. I will miss seeing him riding his bike to work in all types of weather. He bravely faced and battled an implacable foe with humor, grace and dignity. He was a great man and will be missed.

So many Sundays passed seeing Kevin and Margaret at Newman Center, watching Hannah and Andrew grow-- then the summers of seeing Kevin in the Front Row at EVERY Red Butte concert- an amazing person that models how to care deeply and passionately about so many things-his family, serving his patients/coworkers, community, biking, hiking, enjoying the great outdoors. His quiet wisdom and strength is a tribute to a life well lived. I feel blessed to have crossed paths in this world with such a great man.
