LaDene P. DeFond

December 3, 1930 - July 7, 2021

Our loving sister, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed away on July 7, 2021 in Salt Lake City, Utah.

LaDene “Denie” Perkins was born December 3, 1930 to John and Iona Perkins in Payson, Utah. She married Joseph DeFond in Salt Lake City in 1950. They had 1 child together, Diane.

The most important thing in Denie’s life was her family. Her grandchildren and great-grandchildren brought her joy, and her sisters, “The Golden Girls”, shared memories and laughter. She was a wonderful mentor and angel for her daughter. Denie was the heart of our family. She was charitable, selfless, and always giving love unconditionally. “Everyone needs a Denie in their life.”- that’s her legacy.

Denie was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph; her sister, Jean; and her brother, John. She is survived by her sister, Dorothy; her daughter, Diane (Jay) Judkins; her grandchildren, Amber (Tyson) Williams, Joseph (Lauren) Judkins, and Kali (Chad) Agy; and her great-grandchildren, Hailey, Leah, Bella, Savannah, Sawyer, Jet, Annie, Juliet, and Weston.

The family has requested that in lieu of flowers donations may be sent to Best Friends Animals Society. support.bestfriends.org

Dear Diane... my childhood friend! Our sweet moms both left us this year! Tender time of life for our families. I want you to know of my love and appreciation for you and your family. I loved your friendly, kind, gracious mom! What a lovely, happy life she lived! I'm so glad I got to know Amber and Tyson when I moved back to our old neighborhood. Blessings to you and yours! Dearest Diane, I'm so sorry that Denie is gone. I still can't believe it. She was the best mother and grandmother in the world and I always wished she was my mom. She was a mother to all of us! I remember her taking us to cottonwood mall to search for Ram items and that she would drive us to cruise by all the boys houses. We had our first girl's choice dinner at your house and Denie helped with all of it. She always treated me like I was one of her own.  Blessings to you, dear girl.   Much love, Shauna
