Laraine Sigrid Sims Upwall
March 11, 1946 - March 17, 2016
Laraine Sigrid Sims Upwall, our beloved mother, grandmother, and sister, returned to her Heavenly Parents on March 17, 2016. Born March 11, 1946 in Salt Lake City, UT, Laraine lived a life full of love for children. Throughout her life, her most cherished moments were those spent with her children and grandchildren (she always wanted more). After graduating from Olympus High School (1954) she attended Brigham Young University. She left her studies to become a homemaker and found incredible fulfillment in being a mother. From creating delightful cakes to fine handwork and sewn pieces in her early years, her top priority was to make sure her children were taken care of including caring for her daughter Lorilee who struggled with health problems.
She leaves behind her siblings Robert (Gayle) Sims, Rowell (Carolyn) Sims, and David (Bjorg) Sims; her children Paul (Jenni) Upwall, David Upvall, Matthew (Yupayong) Upwall, and Steven (Alisha) Upwall; and her grandchildren Arik and Autumn, William and Victoria, and Grace. She is preceded in death by her parents Royal William and Thelma Jorgenson Sims and daughter Lorilee (Travis) Coverston. The family would like to thank the many care providers at Legacy and Alta View Hospital's ICU for their kindness.
Funeral services will be held Monday, March 21 at 11:00 a.m. at the River Ridge 8th Ward, 10168 South 1100 West, South Jordan, Utah, with a viewing one hour prior to the service. Interment to follow at Elysian Burial Gardens, 1075 E 4580 South. Arrangements entrusted to Starks Funeral Parlor.

Laraine was always sweet and kind to me and my kids. We remember her when we lived in Cottonwood and then in Reunion Village, South Jordan. She was very attentive and loving to Lorilee. Now they will be together again and hopefully they will both enjoy better health. Sorry I couldn't make it to the funeral service. I send my love and best wishes to Rowell & Carolyn and David & Bjorg. Janice

To the family, we are so sorry for your loss. My family and I would like to extend our condolences and please share a Scripture for your comfort. "And he will wipe out every tear from (your) eyes, and death will be no more, neither will mourning nor outcry nor pain be anymore. The former things have passed away." -Revelation 21:4. May our dear heavenly Father bring you hope. And for more comfort through the Holy Scriptures please read John 5:28, 29 and Psalm 37:10, 11, 29. Thank you.
