Lawrence Lemoine

February 20, 1942 - August 20, 2011

Beloved friend Lawrence Lemoine died suddenly on August 20, 2011.

Larry was born on February 20, 1942 in New Orleans, Louisiana.

He served his country in the United States Air Force.  After his home was ravaged by Hurricane Katrina, Larry came to live in Salt Lake City.  He became a devoted member of the Cathedral of Madeleine where he was also employed. He was a 4th Degree Knight in the Knights of Columbus Council 602.

Larry gave generously, especially to those in need, even though he wasn't a man of great means himself. Larry made friends easily and was loved by many. His smile will be missed and always remembered.

Viewng and rosary will be held on Tuesday, August 23, 2011 at Starks Funeral Parlor, 3651 South 900 East. Funeral Mass will be celelbrated on Wednesday, August 31 at 10:00 AM at the Cathedral of the Madeleine, 331 East South Temple.

In Loving Memory

Lawrence was a member of our art class, he always came up with interesting things to work on...but the best thing about him was that he was able to make the entire class laugh....we wll miss the smile he always had, and his fun sense of humor.

To all of Lawrences' family,He was a great friend. Our son knew him at the Nights of Columbus, our father saw him frequently at the Senior Center and we all knew him from the Cathedral of the Madeleine where he helped us all and was very generous with his hugs and friendship

Lawrence has been a member of my drawing/craft classes that I've taught at Liberty Senior Center for 5 years. He has been more than just my student but a very, very good friend. He was unique in his childlike curiosity and was always working on some new project. I can't even find the words to express how much I will miss him. My classes and my life will both have an empty seat that can never be filled.

Larry, You were a charming gentleman and I appreciated your volunteering to so many activities, e.g. The Annual Nihon Matsuri Festival, The All State Catholic Day at Lagoon, The Carmelite Fair, and the Asian Festival. Thanks for sharing! We will definitely miss ya, buddy! Jeff Itami

Lawrence was such a beautiful man, a generous and tender and warm-hearted wonderful person. The care that he gave to so many people, and put into each thing that he did (and so often for others), is remarkable. The deep luminosity of his very being. Lawrence was a one of a kind person, a rare bird, a man who belonged to the world. Tonight at the viewing, seeing how so many people feel so strongly, as I feel too, that Lawrence is a member of their family, an irreplaceable presence in our lives, was so moving and beautiful—an honor befitting him. I can't even express how much I will miss Lawrence, and how fortunate I feel to have had him as a part of my life. Lawrence really taught me how important it is to always do my best for everyone I meet—and to have the courage to really care and to give and to grow—this is how he lived.

Lawrence was a beautiful person - as real and as orginal as they come. His affection for my late son Michael will be always remembered fondly, as will my own remembrances of our short chats on the parking plaze as he constantly reminded me of what's truly important in each of our lives - each other. There's nothing else.

We were very saddened to hear of Lawrence's death. He was always willing to give what he had and always energetic and cheerful! We'll remember picking him up every Sunday for Mass and attending Karaoke and dinner at the senior center. May the Lord bless his family.
