Ready, Leona B.
July 14, 1919 – October 11, 2014
Formerly of Rio Rancho, NM & Buffalo, MN, Leona moved to Salt Lake City, UT after the passing of her husband Warren in 1989 to be near family members and the mountains she loved.
Leona enjoyed a full life of 95 years and with her kind heart always made friends immediately. She led a simple life with a hearts desire to always be there for her family. She was proud of being Slovak, loved her sauerkraut, and amazingly met people from Czechoslovakia wherever she went. As a hobby Leona taught herself to read and write Braille and volunteered to translate books for the blind. She remained a member of the Missouri Synod Lutheran Church during her lifetime, loved listening to music especially the Mormon Tabernacle Choir.
She is survived by her son Robert Ready; daughters Jeanne Mendenhall and Gayle (Hank Bradbury) Campos; grandchildren Patrick Ready, Shannon Koch, Mary Groover, Neil Garcia, Alejandro Campos, Katie Bradbury and Matthew Bradbury; two great-grandchildren Camden Ready and Ember Groover; sister Eleanor Nielsen; and brother John Palko. Preceded in death by her husband.
The family wishes to thank the staff at Chateau Brickyard Senior Independent Living for the special attention given Leona over the past year she resided there.
Memorial services will be held at the National Cemetery in Santa Fe, NM on Friday, November 7, 2014 at 2:15 PM.
In Loving Memory
I am so sorry for your loss. May it help you and your family to know that at John 11:41-43, we read that Jesus says to his friend (Lazarus come on out), and the dead man came out. This account teaches us that the resurrection is a reality, not just a mere myth. Yes you may see your loved one again. Please find some strength and comfort from this in your time of need.
