Leone Gulgulian
November 24, 1934 - January 3, 2020
On Friday morning, January 3rd, 2020, heaven received an angel, our beloved mother, Leone Victoria Joulhayan Gulgulian. She passed peacefully at age 85.
Leone was born in Allepo, Syria on November 24th, 1934. Leone is survived by her husband, Sarkis Gulgulian, her three sons, Vahe (Sylvia), Hrayr (Stephanie), and Kevork (Gina), her brother Garbis Joulhayan, her sister Mary Demirchyan, her grandchildren, Vreige, Natalie, Sophia and Sonya, great grandchildren Phoenix, Vreige Jr., Leo, and preceded in death by 5 siblings.
Leone was an avid reader with a passion for writing, where she regularly contributed to the Armenian newspaper, Asbarez. She was a proud volunteer and president of the Armenian Relief Society for 27 years and was often involved in the Armenian school. She was influential to many Armenians by teaching them about the history of their heritage.
Leone was a kind soul, who opened her heart and home to anyone that needed a helping hand. Her dinner table and home were always filled with family and friends who came to enjoy her amazing home-cooked meals. She lived by a belief that “we should always do great deeds without expecting anything in return, as in the end, God will always be great to us.“
Leone will continue to live in the hearts of her family and friends. She will be remembered as a kind and generous person who loved her family, friends and her Armenian heritage.
Please join us Friday, January 10th, 2020 from 6:00 PM-8:00 PM at Starks Funeral Parlor on 3651 South 900 East, Salt Lake City, Utah. Her funeral will begin on Saturday, January 11th at 11:00 AM at Prophet Elias Greek Orthodox Church at 5335 S Highland Dr, Holladay, UT., following the grave site at Elysian Gardens, 1075 E 4580 S, Millcreek, UT.
