Linda A. Hemingway
April 26, 1953 - October 19, 2018
Linda Ann Hemingway, 65, passed away peacefully on Friday, October 19, 2018 in Salt Lake City, UT. She was born on April 26, 1953 in Salt Lake City to Wayne and Carole Hemingway. She is survived by her son, Andrew (Sarah); niece Amy Hemingway; and many cousins, relatives and friends. She is preceded in death by her parents and brother Kenny.
Linda attended West High School and received her certificate from Salt Lake Community College to be a health unit coordinator. Linda worked for Behavioral Valley Health for the past 11 years. She loved her role as a case manager treating all of her patients and coworkers like family. Linda was known for going out of her way to help her patients whether with transportation, their pets, or making sure they could attend all of their appointments. She was invested in their well-being and they appreciated her so much.
We will miss Linda’s caring, witty, and spitfire personality. Her loud contagious laugh could light up everyone’s day. Linda loved animals, especially her cat Stinkerbell and her “grand-dog” Rocco. Linda loved politics and was always up on current events, music trends, and social media. She enjoyed her traditions from dim sum lunch dates with family and friends, playing cribbage, going to the movies, and Thanksgiving dinner with her best friend. She loved playing games, reading a good book and keeping up on her shows. She also had a special place in her heart for the Tafolla family next door. They never hesitate to lend a helping hand and she loved them like her own granchildren.
Unfortunately, Linda passed the night before her son’s wedding. She was looking forward to this day so much, and we know it would have been the happiest day of her life. She was Andrew and Sarah’s biggest supporter and couldn’t wait to see her son get married. Her presence was felt throughout the whole day and we know it brought her much joy!
The family would like to thank her dear friend Judy Woolley for always being by her side with love and encouragement.
An open house celebration of Linda’s life is scheduled for Sunday, November 11, 2018, from 11:00am to 1:00pm at her son’s home; 6333 South Castleford Drive, West Jordan. All are welcome to attend. Please come with stories to share around noon. A graveside service will happen with family at a later date.
