Linda Gayle Smith Steiner

Our loving wife, mother, grandmother, daughter, sister, aunt, cousin and friend passed away peacefully Sunday, April 15th, 2012.  Linda Gayle Smith Steiner was born December 28th, 1950 in Salt Lake City, Utah to Calvin G. and Pauline Smith.  She married John E. Steiner on April 7th, 1969 and they just celebrated 43 years of marriage.  Together, they raised three beautiful children.  Linda was a gifted homemaker and always welcomed her family and friends with open arms.  She hosted many dinners and parties with the greatest of ease.  Whenever one arrived at her home, it sparkled from top to bottom and there was always something yummy to eat.  She was always the life of the party, with a contagious smile, and her delightful laugh could be heard for miles.  Linda enjoyed travel, trips to Lake Powell, doing things for others, and most of all she loved her family.  Always energetic, she touched many hearts with her love and caring ways and will be sorely missed by all who knew her.

Linda is survived by her husband, John E. Steiner; sons, John (Linette) Steiner and Paul (Misty) Steiner; daughter, Pamela (Zach) Kelser; mother, Pauline Smith; father and stepmother, Calvin (Carol) Smith; brothers, Nick (Susan) Smith, Robert (Stephanie) Smith, Shaun Smith; sisters, Tammy (Max) Trujillo, Stacy Lund; sisters-in-law, Judi (Larry) Kirigin, Carol Smith; grandchildren, Jadynn, Megan, Zachery, Braden, Mia, Isabella, Angelo, and Emiliano; and many aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.  Preceded in death by her brother, Danny.

A celebration of Linda’s life will be held at 5:00 PM on Friday, April 20th at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, 1375 E. Spring Lane, Salt Lake City.  Following the service, there will be an open-house gathering at Starks Funeral Parlor, 3651 South 900 East, Salt Lake City from 6:30-8:30 PM.

Death leaves a heartache no one can heal, love leaves a memory no one can steal. I know for certain that we never lose the people we love, even in death. They continue to participate in every thing we do. Their love leaves an permanent imprint in our memories. And we find comfort in knowing that our lives are enriched by having shared their love. John, Johnny, Paul, Pam and the Smith family, My thoughts and prayers are with you all.

So many years celebrating together: holidays, weddings, baptisms...and funerals. Never thought this day would come. But your life was precious to us as you welcomed our family 23 years ago as part of yours. We will miss your infectious laugh as one of the "usual suspects" at our parties. Celebrate is His Glory! With Love always!

Dear John and family, I was so sorry to hear about Linda's passing. I enjoyed knowing her and your family as I cleaned with her and Jan. I loved her laughter as you mentioned and her great attitude about everything. What I loved the most about her was her sweet attitude and kindness towards all. She never had anything bad to say about anyone, and was always, always caring and kind and worried about others. What a great lady, truly a person without guile. She was and will continue to be a great example to me. May you find comfort in knowing that you will be together again, and may you find comfort in her memories and example to all of us. Love, Pam Fenlon (Jan Anderson's sister)
