Linda Ann Jensen
April 10, 1942 - January 11, 2025
Linda Ann (York) Jensen passed away on January 11, 2025, at the age of 82, after a long battle with Alzheimer’s disease. Despite her struggles with the disease, she remained physically strong and healthy until nearly the end.
Born on April 10, 1942, in Utah to Grant Kenneth and Ruth May York, Linda cherished her parents deeply. Linda is survived by her loving husband, Joe Jensen, her three adoring children, Shelly Carver, Zane Holmquist, and Brandon Holmquist, and stepson, Jared Jensen. She was a supportive and caring sister to her siblings Claudia Fife and Scott York. She was a proud and loving grandmother to her 6 grandchildren, and 3 great-grandchildren.
At the age of 16, Linda survived a devastating automobile accident, sustaining severe head injuries and nearly losing both feet when her car went over a cliff into what is now the Solitude Ski Resort parking area in Big Cottonwood Canyon. Her miraculous recovery inspired her to live life to the fullest.
An adventurous spirit, Linda moved several times, residing in Moab, Utah; Lake Tahoe, Nevada; and Alice, Texas. Upon returning to the Salt Lake Valley, she established her own business, partnering with a close friend to open the first dedicated bath shop in Salt Lake City.
Among her many talents, Linda was an exceptional mother and role model. Her culinary skills ranged from creating gourmet meals reminiscent of a high-end chef to preparing simple, delicious family dinners. She learned to cook various ethnic dishes and cultivated large vegetable gardens. She used her garden’s bounty both in her cooking and for canning a variety of pickles, tomatoes, salsas, sauces, jams, and jellies.
Linda hosted countless dinner parties, large and small, for family and friends, effortlessly entertaining guests with laughter and joy as she prepared meals. She was the cornerstone of the family, making it a priority to bring everyone together for home-cooked meals and quality time during holidays and birthdays. Her efforts created lasting and cherished memories for her loved ones. She also planned events for clients, decorating homes and offices for the holidays. Those fortunate enough to work with her were always delighted by a personalized touch, as she treated every space as if it were her own, capturing styles from elegant to cozy to whimsical.
In addition to her event planning, Linda designed, crafted, and sold exquisite jewelry featuring semiprecious and precious stones, artfully arranged. She also created and decorated clothing, wreaths, flower arrangements, and various home décor items, including reupholstered furniture and painted art. A truly gifted artist, Linda found joy in crafting and creating throughout her life. She quilted beautiful blankets and tapestries for her family, gifting each member a new, warm blanket or quilt every year. In addition to this, Linda knitted and crocheted lovely scarves, hats, gloves, and purses that her loved ones were frequently blessed with.
Linda found immense happiness in her garden, flowers, and home. Above all her talents, it was the care, time, and pure love she shared with her friends and family that will be sorely missed and forever cherished.
A celebration of Linda’s life will be on January 25th from 4-6 P.M. at Starks Funeral Parlor, 3651 South 900 East, Salt Lake City. Guests are encouraged to use parking and entrance located on the north side of the building.
