Lindsay Jeanne Chance

December 7, 1979 - October 21, 2023

Our beautiful daughter, niece, and friend, Lindsay Jeanne Chance, passed away peacefully at home, with loved ones by her side on October 21, 2023, in Millcreek, Utah.  She was born December 7, 1979 in Bountiful, Utah.  Survived by parents, Tracey and Rex Leetham, Michael Chance (Frieda Gillette); uncles, Jerry Machue III (Christy Berry), David Chance, Craig Chance, Dennis Chance; aunts, Terry Galloway, Merrillyn Morris (Bob), Virgia Shearer (Don), Teri Loprinzi, Stacy Bourque; and many loved cousins. Preceded in death by her grandparents; uncle, Stephen Leetham; and cousin, Samuel Lowry.

Lindsay graduated from Woods Cross High School in 1998, and attended Salt Lake Community College. Despite her many physical limitations, Lindsay led a full and active life.  In her early years, she traveled the United States with her grandparents (Jeannie Mac and Papa) and traveled extensively with her parents, including attending numerous national spina bifida conferences. Lindsay thoroughly enjoyed participating in many activities through the National Ability Center, including snow skiing, water sports, horseback riding, and trips to Jackson Hole. Lindsay also had a blast when her Uncle Jerry took her to Magic Mountain, the beach, and Dodger games.

Thanks to the many friends and family who provided brute strength and loving hands to help Lindsay anywhere she wanted to go. She loved to be with people, thoroughly enjoying boating, Lake Powel trips, U of U football games, and always up for a party, anytime anywhere.  Lindsay had a positive impact on the lives of the many people she touched. Never one to complain, she accepted and endured her physical challenges head on and inspired many.

Special thanks to Mary Beth Bohan, whose compassion and patience over the last 15 years, guided Lindsay through her life at Pheasant Hollow and enabled her to lead a relatively independent life.  Also, much gratitude to Mike Sanders, Andrea Pineda, Debra Brazzel, and all of the present and previous staff at Pheasant Hollow, who took care of and helped Lindsay to live her life to the fullest – all those medical miracles!  Additionally, many thanks to all of the current and former aides at Synergy Home Health, who provided daily and personal care over the years, many of whom formed a special bond with Lindsay.

A Celebration of Life will be on Friday, October 27, 2023, from 5-7pm at Starks Funeral Parlor, 3651 South 900 East, Millcreek, Utah.  Guests are encouraged to use parking and entrance on the north side of the building.  In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to  Intermountain Therapy Animals at therapyanimals.org/give.

Lindsay when we had that Celebration of Life. I remembered Forest Gump at the end when that feather swirled to the ground and Forest picked up the feather and put it back in the book and the book title was call how to live life to the fullest
