Link 'Robert' Scoffield

June 6, 1948 - July 25, 2024

Link Scoffield (Robert), age 76, passed away on July 25, 2024.  He spent the past month in the hospital battling his condition then he returned home and passed peacefully in the comfort of his own home.  Link was born on June 6, 1948, in Salt Lake City, Utah, to Deen Scoffield and Marie Bradshaw Scoffield. He is survived by his wife, Gay Sullivan Scoffield; his sister Paula Scoffield; his sons, Coby (Kim) Scoffield, and Nathan (Sara) Scoffield; and his seven grandchildren: Ethan (Jesse) Scoffield, Torin (Ashley) Scoffield, Aidan Scoffield, Easton Scoffield, Ryder Scoffield, Bridgette Scoffield, and Greyson Scoffield. He was preceded in death by his parents, Deen and Marie Scoffield; his sister, Pat (Mike) Brown; and his brother, Deen Scoffield.

Link graduated from Granger High School in 1966, then attended the University of Utah for Engineering studies. He served in the United States Army and did a tour of duty in Vietnam from 1969 to 1970. After leaving the Army, he worked at the Tooele Army Depot for a few years. From there, he started working for the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA). He worked in the service center at the FAA, rose through the ranks, and served as the interim facilities manager before passing the torch and finishing his career as the manager at the Cedar City Radar Site. He retired to Ivins, UT after 36 years of service to the Federal Government. Never one to sit idle for too long, he also pursued a side career in his “spare time”. He worked in construction, building houses and commercial sites, and built a house for his family in Bennion in 1987. He was a jack of all trades and taught his sons many of his vast skills.

Link loved hot rods, trucks, and motorcycles. Over the years, he had many of all three and rode and worked on them whenever he had a chance. His final hot rod was a 1966 F100 which was his pride and joy.  He would beam with delight whenever he got the opportunity to tell someone new about any of his bikes or cars. Another passion of Link's was his Cobalt boat. He loved taking his friends and whole family to the lake to cruise, waterski, or wakeboard. Lake Powell was one of his favorite destinations for boating.

Above all else Link valued his family and close friends of which he had many.  He “adopted” his children’s close friends as his own, loved watching and being involved in the lives of his grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and grand nieces and nephews.  Even if you weren’t already a part of his family, adopted family or close friends Link personified a hospitable demeanor.  He welcomed so many people into his heart and world.  He would be the first one to offer you a drink at a party or make sure to include you in a conversation if he noticed you were being left out.

To celebrate Link’s life, we will gather from 6-8 PM on August 8, 2024, at Starks Funeral Parlor, 3651 South 900 East, Millcreek, Utah 84106. Guests are encouraged to use parking and entrance located on the north side of the building. Link loved people and a good party, so in lieu of traditional mourning, we request the joy of your company.

He taught me very young to pet Inky sluu oh Ely soft words, He had magic hearing. Kisses from a dog, well I should learn how to do it real well( the lick) wet best all the way up my Mums cheek. Avery sharp dresser good looking young gentleman. And he did all the great boy things only dreamed to be older and join in. He was lovely with Pat and Paula me too. And his mum Ain't Marie was his Queen. I want to be luv'd by a boy just like him. All our clothes were hand made by his mum, such perfect one of a kind buttons the perfect lace, trim. Buttonholes lined up perfect- oh it's store bought no way we luved them. I still have the dress she made me to begin school in Arizona 7th grade now your clothes had real sophistication run way. Link looked each one over said how pretty I looked- I'd sit by you before school ir at lunch. Gohllh I could have died rite then and been in Heaven. I was crushing on him wasn't I. He took me to play unlike the other kids if I was too young we played something my age and his friends were always invited in. The picture I'm submitting is at our annual family reunion in Flathead Lake, Montana, our fun was from sun up ( first morning they in July it snowed melted by 10-ish but we loved it. Now I had the blessing playing with his lil kiddos , we luved the swings hung high from those massive pines, I pushed long and very high tjey were not scared a lick. Fishing boat sports . Link pulled each kid to the lake taught us first it was the clearest lake in the country, I could serysll the way down fish were deep. Blue of blues in that clear water I was in heaven a Huck Finn adventure. I developed a cake Beet Cake won a Betty Crocker scholarship for - but  the best prize I ever could have gotL was Links sixth piece, giggle I never told his girlfriend( wife) beets are healthy and sooo good. I've been s baby all week Sweet Link, I cry if the wind changes directions, .a plane flies or a motorcycle buzzes by my hippie bus.  I'm not going to miss you, I luv you way to much for that, I luv you so deeply that's room for no more... only luv. Joy next, reuniting that's what  pulling for. Leaving Paula and I Orphans hey brother make it up to us on your next grand adventure you have a short time to go play explore for that day to come.
