Lorraine Conner

February 2, 1922 - August 11, 2012

Lorraine (Lane) Conner

Lane died in the early starlit morning of August 11th with her children at her side. She was born on February 24th, 1922 in Fresno, CA to Velma and Clarence Metz. Soon thereafter her family moved to Susanville, near Mt. Shasta, where Lane spent an idyllic childhood "on the ranch", the source of many cherished memories. After WWII she struck out on her own to San Francisco where she met a returned "Flying Tiger", Gil Conner to whom she was married for 50 years.

Lane leaves behind four children: Kathy (Mark) McLaren, Barry (Colleen), Nancy (Warren) Conner-Diven, and Tom (Susie), six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Lane adored her brother Keith and up until the end they shared many happy times together. Sister-in-law Shirley Conner of Baltimore was also a dear friend. Preceded in death by her husband.

Lane took delight in being a "Pink Lady" at Pioneer Valley Hospital in the 1990s and volunteered many hours of service. She enjoyed the friendship of the Swansons, Rob and Jenn Land, and the girls at "Silver Pines"– Betty, Wilhelmina and Lorraine. She pursued painting and Bible Study with much enthusiasm. Member of the Catholic Church.

Heartfelt thanks to everyone at Rocky Mountain Hospice for their tender, expert care. A memorial celebration of Lane's life is to take place at a later date in San Diego, California.

In Loving Memory

Our sincerest condolences on the loss of Lane. We enjoyed her gentle presence at our get-togethers, and know how much your loving care meant in her last years. Best to all of you, Melisse, Chris, Tori and Jack.

Lane was a delightful lady. It was my privilege to co-sponser her in the RICA Program at St.Ann's. I kept in touch with her until she left Silver Pines. Please accept my sincere sympathy for your loss.
