Louie John Thiros
March 6, 1929 - May 6, 2022
Louie John Thiros, age 93, passed away peacefully May 6, 2022 in Bountiful, Utah with his son by his side. Born March 6, 1929 in Ogden, Utah the son of John Nicholas and Christina Hirakis Thiros, he married Mary Maragakis May 24, 1959 in the Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Cathedral, Salt Lake City, Utah.
Louie was very active in the Greek Orthodox Church. He participated in the Annual Greek Festival, and in his later years,
was a member of the Hellenic Cultural Association, receiving the “Axios” award in 2015 for his many years of service. He had a long and distinguished career at Hill Air Force Base, receiving many awards, commendations and citations. In 1990 he was recognized by the United States Air Force for his 40 years of civilian service.
He was never one to turn down a request to help a family member or friend with any of their DIY projects. An avid woodworker, he crafted windmills for the yard, wooden car replicas, rocking horses and many more gems for his grandkids, nieces, nephews and their families. He also enjoyed spending time outdoors, fishing, hunting and hiking his favorite trail at Mueller Park.
His family and friends will always remember his kind eyes, sweet smile and welcoming nature. May he live on through the memories of all of the people he touched, all that had the privilege of knowing him and those that received one of his many wonderful woodworking gifts.
Louie is survived by his two sons, Stephen Louie (Sophia) and Arthur Louie Thiros, and his grandchildren Louie, Alexia and Elena Thiros. He is also survived by his brother Nick Thiros and sisters Angeline Delis and Maria Soter. He is preceded in death by his wife of 59 years, Mary Maragakis Thiros and his brother Hercules (Harry) Thiros.
Funeral services will be held on May 18, 2022, at 11:00 a.m. at Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church located at 279 South 300 West, Salt Lake City. A viewing will be held on May 17, 2022 from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. with a Trisagion service starting at 7:00 p.m. at Starks Funeral Parlor. Guests are encouraged to use the north parking lot.

Steve and Art I am so sorry for your loss my thought's and prayers are with you two. He was one hell of a guy with that smile and laugh you couldn't help smile when you where around him. Sorry I couldn't be there with you guys during this sad time, I've been really sick with pheunamonia, but my heart is there with you. Love you two! May his memory be eternal.
