Lyn Jacobsen Phillips

November 9, 1946 - March 18, 2016

Lyn Jacobsen Phillips was born November 9, 1946 in Salt Lake City, Utah to Melvin L. Jacobsen and Vila Cowan. At age thirteen the family moved to Taylorsville, Utah where she lived and attended school. She graduated from Granger High School and later Brigham Young University, where she excelled in Nursing. She then worked at the LDS Hospital in the Open Heart Surgery area under Dr. Russel M. Nelson, a position she held until marrying Kenneth Phillips on October 26, 1972, who was working in California in the Space Program.  Lyn dedicated her life to raising their 4 children: Kevin (Rosemary), Cynthia (Michael) Dahl, Deborah (Nickolai) Borba, and Brian (Heidi). While raising their family, Lyn also spent many hours serving in the Primary and later Relief Society Presidencies.

Her life ended on March 18, 2016 after battling Stage IV Melanoma, which she courageously fought for sixteen months. She is now freed from the great pain and suffering it exacted and has now returned to that "Home on High".

She is survived by her husband Kenneth; her sister Ellen (William) Meaders; brother David (Peggy) Jacobsen; her four children; and nine grandchildren, who are the joy of her life.

Funeral Services will be held on Thursday, March 24th at 10:30 AM in the Kaysville 12th Ward House – 1039 East Crestwood Road, Kaysville, Utah. A viewing will be from 9:00 to 10:15 AM. She will be interred in the Salt Lake City Cemetery, 4th Ave. "N" Street.

The medical knowledge, service and love Lyn gave to her brother-in-law, Bud and his wife, Dorothy will always be remembered and appreciated. She spent many hours serving them and always ran to their aide when called. We love you and know that you are now with them and other loved ones in that 'Home on High".
