Marcia Dee Warthen Paulson
April 25, 1937 - December 26, 2023
Marcia was born on April 25, 1937 in Concordia, Kansas to H.F. and Gertrude Warthen. Marcia grew up in Phoenix, Arizona and spent the last 58 years in Salt Lake City, Utah. She passed away on December 26, 2023 of natural causes. She went peacefully with Bob by her side.
Marcia attended Mount St. Mary’s College in Brentwood, California, then graduated from Arizona State University, where she met Robert Paulson, whom she married in 1960. The family moved to Salt Lake City in 1966. For many years Marcia worked along side Bob at their business, Consolidated Field Sports.
Marcia loved entertaining and being the life of the party. Many a’good times were had on the outside deck of and back porch of Marcia and Bob's homes.
She was always up for volunteering for a good cause. First at St. Ambrose Catholic Church, as principal of CCD, where she met many lifelong friends. She followed this up with The Assistance League, Judge Memorial Catholic High School and in her daughter, Christi’s, classroom where she was known as “Grandma.”
Marcia loved spending time with her family in Salt Lake City, as well as in Phoenix and San Diego with her brothers Ron and Greg, sister Dwyn, and their children. You could always find her in the audience of the grandchildren’s activities.
Marcia is survived by her Husband, Bob and children: Christi (Matthew), Robert (Paula) and Julie (Andrew); grandchildren: Andrew, Chase, Robert and Miles Paulson, and Caroline and Marshall Wallace and eight great-grandchildren.
The family would like to thank Cottonwood Creek Senior Living and Inspiration Hospice, especially Jolene, for their compassionate care during her last months of life.
A life celebration will be on January 20 from 5-7 p.m. at Starks Funeral Parlor, 3651 South 900 East, Millcreek, Utah. Guests are encouraged to use parking and entrance located on the north side of the building.
In Loving Memory
What a wonderful lady. So many happy memories. CFS was the place to hang out and she made us always feel welcome. I am so glad that she and Bob were in our lives.

Dear Paulson family, what a nice video & obituary. I have so many great memories of Marcia. From parties at the old house, her amazing book collection, the Bargain Box, helping out at Consolidated Field Sports, the Judge Follies, Holy Cross, Book Club and so much more. Always fun, kind & generous. I am glad tha our parents have had such a long lasting friendship.
