Marco John Stetich
June 27, 1960 - February 21, 2011
Marco John Stetich
“Chef in the Sky”
Marco John Stetich, 50, beloved husband to Susan, and father of Josee (14), Marco Jr. “Zaine” (11), and Maximus (8), has left the kitchen . . . the people in heaven are eating well now.
Marco died on February 21, 2011 of a heart attack – his heart was just too big.
Marco was born in Salt Lake City, Utah, on June 27, 1960, to Wally and Phyllis (Boyington) Stetich. Marco, along with his four siblings, Tom, Valinda (Rose), Joe and Jalaine (Carrow) attended West High School. Marco was a First Vice President & Financial Advisor at Morgan Stanley Smith Barney where he embraced his clients as family. A graduate of the University of Utah with a B.S. in business, Marco remained a devout member of Kappa Sigma throughout his life.
An avid waterfowl hunter, Marco loved sitting in the marsh with his hunting buddies. Deadhead, sportsman, culinary expert, consummate host, and friend to all, Marco was larger than life. Relentless at helping people and making them feel loved and special, Marco put a spring in everyone’s step. Although Marco was a man who would gladly give anyone the shirt off his back, his children were his greatest joy and central focus. He reveled in their latest activities. He was a passionate father who began every conversation with an interesting up to date account of his children’s lives.
A celebration of Marco’s life will be held on Saturday, February 26th at the L’Orangerie at Red Butte Gardens, 300 Wakara Way, from 10:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Carpooling recommended. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Marco Stetich Memorial Trust at any America First Credit Union or online.

Dear Stetich Family, Marco will be sorely missed by anyone who knew him. In the last several years, Marco and I became hunting buddies. He belonged to the Canadian Goose Club and we went there and to the New State where I hunt. He was the consummate gentlemen. He was so very proud of his family and every conversation we had involved talking about how much he loved you all. God's Peace, Jim Palmer

Dear Susan, Josee, Zaine & Maximus, I so saddened by the news of Marcos passing. One of my favorite things about Marco was his big bear hugs. He made you feel like a close friend even if you hadn't talked to him in years. His family was his most treasured gift. God Bles all of you in this difficult time and hope the memories have some kind of healing in some small way. Anybody who knew Marco, Loved Marco.

Dear Stetich's I was so sorry to hear of Marco's passing. He was such a character. Always there to lend an ear or a shoulder to cry on. We had a great childhood. When I think of being young and all the fun we had the Stetich clan always comes to mind first. Boy I miss those days and cherish those memories. I wish you all the best in this time of loss and sorrow. But know that all of heaven is now laughing and eating well. Love to you all

I was in the 19th Ward with Marco. I have seen him a couple of times over the years. A few months ago I found him on Facebook. We chatted there a few times. I can only think of positives about him, even as a teenager. He was a bundle of energy and always a lot of fun. I am very sorry for his family. I pray you will be blessed at this trying time.

Wow, Susie. So, so sorry to hear about Marco. As he liked to say, "we go way back". To junior high school, in fact. In all the years I knew him he never changed. Always lit up a room, always happy, always made you feel good. Loved his style, his charisma AND yes, his cooking. He'll be truly missed. Love to you and the kids. XOXO! Kris

Dear Family and Friends, My prayers and thoughts are with you. After not having seen Marco for over 18 years, I was blessed with the opportunity to "fraternize" with him one last memorable time during a trip in December. And it was as if not a day had gone by! I look forward to seeing him again... as we all know it will be a "fleeting moment" before we're together again. God Bless, Gary Bentz

Joe and family, I only met Marco a couple times, over 30 years ago. But I can still see the way Joe's face would light up, when telling me about his awesome little Bro, when we were in Africa. I am so sorry for your great loss. Joe, the Eternal Flame is still burning bright. Love You Man. Alan & Shelly Christensen

To the family of Marco, I wanted to be one of so many to share how sad I am that Marco has left us. He had such a passion for life and spent so much of it taking care of everyone. I will miss him but find comfort knowing that he is watching over us all--still taking care of us. Rest in peace my friend-I love you! Bob

Suzie, One word; SHOCKED!! We take so much for granted until someone special leaves us. Marco was, and is, the epitomy of the word special. I don't recall anyone who met him having a bad impresssion of him. And what a cook. Holly and I recall coming to his house in the Marmalade district for one of his culinary delights many years ago. The world is a much sadder place today knowing that we will never get a chance to sit and have another conversation with him again. You and the kids will be in our thoughts and prayers.

Family, Marco was one "cool cat" back at the Kappa Sig house. Many great memories were made in those early days. After college I didn't get to see him nearly often enough. I know he was a great family man, a great friend, and a person who loved life. You will be missed.

Dear Stetich Family, I am saddened and shocked by Marco's passing. There is no one like him, he filled the room with his presence. Please accept my deepest sympathy for your loss but his spirit remains in his family and friends.

Marco, you are such a sweet man. I thought you were so cute in school, of course you already knew that, the rest of the girls did too. I am so sorry that your family will miss you so deaply. I know how it feels to lose a father young. My father was 46. I still miss him. Your dad was always kind. He was mannerly, well as much as any teenager can be. He was smart, and giving, and all the things that he would want you to always be.They say that one life touches so many others for good. i know that to be true. Stay close to your mom, follow their example, and I am sure that your life will be a happy ones. I am so sorry for your loss. Carla Lyon Del Porto
