Maria Angelina Garcia
September 5, 1945 - September 26, 2023
Maria Angelina (Angie) Rodriquez Garcia was delivered into this world at the house of her mom’s best friend on September the 5th, 1945. She passed into heaven into the arms of our savior Jesus and our Holy Blessed Mother Mary on September the 26, 2023. She was raised in the small town of Monte Vista, Colorado where she loved to visit her aunt Rita later in life with her husband and family. She always described her early childhood years as very joyful times in her life. Although she said times were difficult as a child, not always having much of anything, she felt that these life experiences were what would be important in raising her own family. She had a few very close childhood friends that she maintained a loyal and devoted friendship, more like brothers and sisters. Not time nor distance from one another ever diminished these very important friendships. She crocheted a small blanket for her most loving friend weeks before she passed into heaven.
The early childhood years growing up in a family that only had the essentials of life were the values that would help her to raise her children. She had within her being what God wants from all of us; Love, compassion, and charity. God gave her the responsibility of being a devoted mother to her children and she kept that duty throughout her life. Yes, her children were her main stay in life, and like any dedicated mom she always had their welfare at heart. She believed that if she raised her children by the teachings of Christ, that they would also pass this belief onto their children. Not having to be employed, she was able to devote her time in raising their children, although it meant not having much money. More important to her was having a family that was happy and loving to each other. She cared for her aging mother, Lucinda, for several years until she passed on. The love her mom always gave her is what Angie was able to provide for her when she became ill. It was a difficult time for Angie to lose her mom because she knew all of the sacrifices she endured just to be able to provide food for her and her siblings.
In May of 1971 she married her loving husband Phil Garcia, and they would go on in life, loving each other for over fifty years. That intense love, unconditional, was what bound these two lives together, and what inspired them to raise a good Christian family. Their love for one another made it seem like they could enjoy and endure whatever life brought into their lives. Love cannot be truly defined, nor sometimes understood, it can only be felt deep within our hearts. That feeling of love was what these two beings had for one another and what carried them until what they promised at the alter of their marriage “till death do us part”. Love and living what God has put before us is not a coincidence, if we believe life ends when death comes, our lives then were not what God meant them to be. Angie believed that life did not end here, but continued into the heaven that we are promised. She believed in the Angels and Saints and was devoted to praying her rosary. She was a remarkable lady that we will never forget and always remember with love and affection.
The devotion she had for family and friends was also displayed in one of her passions and that was being a devoted fan of the Bronco football team. Maybe not always winning their games, she never ever stopped being a loyal fan. She loved gathering with her four children, also devoted Bronco fans, every weekend that they played on television. She also looked forward to the yearly game that they would attend together in Denver, Colorado.
Throughout their early years Angie and her family enjoyed the outdoors, camping, fishing, and just enjoying the beauty of nature. On one of the fishing trips in Idaho, she caught a bigger fish than her husband, and she let him know whose fish was bigger. She loved to cook and especially make her very delicious homemade tortillas for her family. She liked to make frijoles, papas fritas, and chile verde for her family, that being what they preferred. She didn’t always have a lot to eat during her childhood years, but she made sure that her family had good food to enjoy, with mostly home cooking verses fast food.
Angie is survived by her husband Phil, children: James, Vanessa (Jason), Philip, and Felicia (Mark). She also has one sister, Clara who lives in Idaho. Her grandchildren that she was blessed to have in her life are; Ethan, Levi, Breeana, Zarah, Veronica, Chrystal, Priscilla, Sophia, and great grandchildren Zada, McKinley, Monty, and a granddaughter to be born in February of 2024 (Angelina).
She is preceded in death by her mom Lucinda; brothers Levi, Valentin, and Clifford, and her son Luisito. She dearly loved her father and mother in laws, Phil and Lupe Garcia. All of these past lives will be waiting with open arms welcoming her into everlasting life. It is not easy to let go of your loved ones when they die, but if you are a Christian, and deep within your hearts you believe in the heaven that God has promised us, you know your loved one will enter into this paradise.
Funeral services will be held on October 4th 2023 at 11:00 a.m at St. Martin De Porres Catholic Church, 4914 south 2200 West.
A holy rosary will be prayed half an hour before the service (10:30 a.m.). A luncheon will follow after the funeral service.
