Maria Arabella Martinez
1922 – 2015

Maria Arabella Martinez, 93, of Salt Lake City entered into the presence of the Lord on December 6th, 2015.

Mom was born on October 29th, 1922 in Trujillo, Colorado to Feliciano and Maria Josepha Valdez. She married Jose O. Martinez in 1948 in Trujillo, Colorado, later divorced.

Mom was an active member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church from 1968 until she entered St. Joseph's Villa in 2010, where she enjoyed attending daily Mass. We extend our thanks to the entire Pastoral staff at St. Joseph's Villa, especially Father Anastasius.

She dearly loved all of her children and she supported us whenever the need arose. She doted on all of her grandchildren, great-grandchildren and most recently her great-great-grandson.

Survived by her daughter Sarah Howard; sons Joseph Samuel Martinez, Michael (Ann) Martinez; eight grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-grandson; brother Gene Valdez; and many nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by an infant daughter Maryann; parents; sisters Rachel Archuleta, Elissama Martinez, Delphine McFatridge, Phyllis Hakes, Rose Facker; and brother Gilbert Valdez.

Family and friends may call upon the family for a viewing on Sunday, December 13th from 6:00 to 8:00 PM, with a Rosary beginning at 7:00PM at Starks Funeral Parlor, 3651 South 900 East, Salt Lake City. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, December 14th at 11:00 AM at St. Patrick's Catholic Church, 400 South 1000 West, Salt Lake City. Interment to follow at a later date in Trujillo, Colorado.

Our family wishes to thank the entire staff of St. Joseph‘s Villa for the loving care of our mother received during the last 5 years of her life.
