Marilyn Gold

September 1, 1940 - November 14, 2009

Marilyn Gold

My beloved wife, Marilyn Louise (Burton) Gold, ended her journey on earth Saturday afternoon, Nov 14th, 2009, following a yearlong battle with MRSA.

She was born on September 1st, 1940 in Cambridge, MA to Barbara and Harold Burton.  She attended Belmont (MA) High School.

She was an outdoor enthusiast and animal rights advocate.  She would never forgive me if I didn’t mention her 5 rescued Chows and inherited Amazon parrot.  After years of bouncing around on my Sportster, she came to love riding the buddy seat on our Road King.  Among her many talents she groomed dogs and taught children how to ski.  She also enjoyed camping, hiking, spending time with grandchildren and watching me go fishing with her dogs.  She loved living in the Wasatch but always missed Cape Cod.  A UTE fan till the end, she graciously donated her remains to the University of Utah for medical research in the hope her death would spare others the suffering she endured.

She leaves behind her husband Paul Gold; daughter Deborah Weston Rendahl of San Marcos, CA; son David Charles Weston of Salt Lake; stepson Gabriel Gold of Salt Lake; 2 grandchildren Rebecca Sage Rendahl and Travis David Weston; and brother Wayne Burton of Durham, NH.

Preceded in death by her parents Harold and Barbara Burton.

There will be a commemorative service celebrating Marilyn’s life on Saturday, Dec 5th from 6 to 8 PM at Starks Funeral Parlor, 3651 S. 900 E., Salt Lake City.

In lieu of flowers, a "No More Homeless Pets" memorial fund in her name has been established with Best Friends Animal Society, 5001 Angel Canyon Rd, Kanab, UT  84741; www.bestfriends.org.

Her family would like to convey our gratitude to Holladay Healthcare Center, Paramount Health & Rehabilitation Center and Evercare Home Health & Hospice for making her last days as comfortable as possible.

I’m still in love with you, Honey.  Your faithful husband, Paul

Paul, I am greatly saddened to hear of Marilyn's passing. With my son now taking up riding, I have thought of the two of you often and the obvious happiness you displayed when together. I still picture Marilyn on the backseat of your Harley Sportster pulling out of the parking lot at Clinical Assays. You were blessed to find each other. My prayers and thoughts are with you.
