Marilyn L. Childs
January 1, 1926 - August 6, 2013
Our dear, funny, feisty sister and aunt, Marilyn L. Childs passed away August 6th, 2013 of natural causes. Marilyn was born January 1st, 1926 the daughter of Leslie D. Marsell and Marguerite Cederholm Marsell.
Marilyn worked for the Federal Government in several offices as a file clerk. She retired from the Bureau of Land Management and she and her husband, Ronald Childs had many happy times fishing and traveling in their RV. Their favorite spot was Dillon, Montana, where they spent many summers. They made lifelong friends at the Southside RV Park. After retiring she developed a passion for quilting winning awards and giving many away.
Though not having children of her own, Marilyn became very close to her sister’s five children. She enjoyed the company of her pet dogs. Julie, her Yorkie, was a true companion.
She is preceded in death by her husband and parents. She leaves behind her sister, Nancy (Lloyd) Ferguson and nieces and nephews Karen (Sam) Campasano, David, Heidi, Heather, Jonathan (Diana).
“Poor Nancy” is now a lot poorer due to her loss. Till we meet again, love ‘ya.
A celebration of her life will be held on Wednesday, August 28th from 6 to 8 PM at Starks Funeral Parlor, 3651 South 900 East, Salt Lake City, where complimentary valet parking is provided on the north side of the building. Please bring a special memory to share.
In Loving Memory
Dear family, Though I have not met any of you, I know you must all be awesome because Marilyn was and you are her family. I first met Marilyn when I worked at The Crafty Quilter in Dillon. I so admired her zest for life. Everything she did, she did with gusto--be it quilting, being a Jazz fan or caring for her precious 'Julie'. For several years I would visit her at the RV park a a couple times each summer and take her homemade jam and zucchini relish. I will always cherish those visits. The last time I saw Marilyn it was in her home in Salt Lake about five years ago in early October. We had a fabulous visit. I would like all of you to know that your dear Marilyn was dear to me too, a jewel in my crown of friends. With much love and sympathy, Kim Nye

Marilyn was a dear friend. Though I had not seen her in a few years, I was able to see her a few months ago. We enjoyed "catching up." Sadly, I will not be able to be there to celebrate her life on Tuesday. With deepest sympathy, Mary Wittke

Mrs. Childs was one of a kind. She always had time for a visit. She always sent me cards for special occasions even though I was just her handyman. I really enjoyed stopping and visiting with her. She will be missed. My sincere condolences go out to the family.
