Marilyn V. Symes
July 21, 1933 - January 14, 2019
On January 14, 2019 our Irish mother passed on to begin her new journey of eternal bliss.
She was born Marilyn Valoy Butcher on July 21, 1933. She was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. She served an 18 month “home mission “ for the church. She was a primary teacher and a Cub Scout leader.
She married Teddy Gordon Symes of Salt Lake City. She used to say when she saw Ted for the first time, “that is the man I am going to marry “. He was the love of her life.
Early on in her marriage she ran a dental office for Robert Bowen DDS. She not only ran the front desk but was the hygienist.
She was a one woman show. Later on after starting a family, she worked for Sun Photo.
She worked from home tinting black and white pictures with colored pencils and paints.
She was the daughter of Lester W Butcher and Mary Jennings Butcher. Les was a chemist and Mary worked for Paramount Pictures in the Salt Lake City office editing film reels. Mother played the violin in Grandpa Butcher’s community orchestra he founded.
Mom’s most important role in life was raising her family. She took great pride in the accomplishments of her children over the years.
Mother and Dad had a wonderful life together residing in a beautiful home in Taylorsville. She took great pride in her yard, which always featured at least two water fountains and lovely flower gardens. Her daughter Mary Lyn was married in the back yard in a stunning garden wedding. Mother and Dad traveled extensively on many cruises, including two excursions to Ireland and many visits to Palm Springs California.
She is survived by two sons, Shawn and Ted, one daughter Shannon., and two grandchildren Kyle and Savannah. She is presided in death by her husband Teddy and a daughter Mary Lyn.
Funeral services will be held at 12:00 pm on January 26, 2019 at The Old Meeting House, 4120 South Highland Drive, Holladay, Utah. A viewing will be from 11:00 am to 12:00 pm also at The Old Meeting House. Friends and family are welcomed to stay for a lite luncheon following the service.
In Loving Memory

During this difficult time we hope you will have comfort in the following passages found at Isaiah 25:8 and Revelation 21:4 where our creator promises to end death forever and reunite us with our love ones again in the near future.
