Marjorie Wawrzyniak Carstensen

August 4, 1925 - June 25, 2018

Marjorie Carstensen, , born August 4, 1925 to Neil R Hood and Jennie Telford passed away at the age of 92 with her family in attendance in Saint George, Utah on Monday June 25, 2018.

Marge grew up in Utah attending South High School.  She also spent much of her summers in Grace, Idaho riding her grandmother's horses.  She learned to fly a plane before she learned to drive.

She worked her way from secretary to VP positions at Ross Journey and Harris and Love Advertising in the 1960s to the 1990s.  She traveled the world and was a University of Utah football groupie.   She was a long time member of the Ambassador Club in Salt Lake, the Cottonwood Club and the “Angels” that provided shoes to under privileged children.

Gold shoes, dramatic earrings, all class.  We will miss seeing you wearing big flashy earrings, shiny shoes, glass of wine in hand, saying “Hello my darling, I love you dearly”.  Marge was bold, brave, and always gave the best hugs and the most hilariously random Christmas gifts.  She is a force this world will surely miss, but our hearts will retain forever.

She was deeply involved in politics, animal rights and many other worthy causes.

Marge married Ray Wawrzyniak, had twins, Val & Vicki, divorced and later married Joe Carstensen.

She is survived by son Val (Kathy) Wawrzyniak; daughter Vicki Eldredge; grandchildren Thad, Karrick, Kipp, Nickole, Kortney, Kallin; great-grandchildren, Madi, Mackay, Keegan, Sadie, Grace, Luke, Yunni, Addison, Max, Savannah, Knox; and nieces and nephews and her best furry friend Zorro.

In lieu of flowers, please send donations to Shriners Hospital or Best Friends Animal Society in Kanab (bestfriends.org/donate).

A celebration of her life will be held on Saturday, July 7, 2018 from 6:00 – 8:00 PM at Starks Funeral Parlor, 3651 South 900 East, Salt Lake City. Guests are encouraged to use the complimentary valet parking on the north side of the building.

In Loving Memory

I had the pleasure of meeting Marge through her daughter. She was a delightful, caring person who loved animals and was always the most gracious hostess. Marge lived her life fully and will be missed. My heartfelt sympathy to all of her family.
