Mark Alan Walker
May 2, 1952 - August 13, 2022
Mark Alan Walker passed away on August 13, 2022 in the early morning at his home in Park City. He was born May 2, 1952 to Ladene and Leo Walker. Mark attended Highland High School where he proved his athletic ability on the basketball and golf teams and served as the Senior Class Vice President. Mark graduated with his Masters Degree in Architecture from the University of Utah in 1977. He joined forces with Rick Otto in 1987 to form Otto-Walker Architects where he designed a multitude of custom homes and commercial buildings by hand: a true lost art and skill. His imprint is evident throughout the Park City area where he not only designed beautiful homes, but enriched the lives of his clients and their families.
Mark was a loving and devoted husband and father and a lifetime friend to so many! If you ask Mark’s children about him, they would all agree that he was not only their father, but truly one of their best friends. He was always there if you needed anything, unless you needed instructions on how to use power tools, as it could quickly turn into a Clark Griswold moment. Stories of Mark’s encounter with Christmas lights on the house are true and without exaggeration. Who could not love this man! Mark made friends wherever he went, and his friends were family. The infamous Booze Cruise will never be the same.
He was the happiest he has ever been with grand plans to make the most of the wonderful years ahead. We sadly lost a giant soul far too soon. His morning calls will be missed by many and holidays and bbq’s will never be the same without our “grillman”.
MAW a beloved name for Mark, is playing an epic round of golf, and watching the magical Moab sunsets with an Old Fashioned in hand.
Mark is survived by his loving family, Stacey (wife); children, Jamie, Andrew (Kelly), Ben (Shana), Mollie (Chad), and Megan (Kevin); grandchildren Michael, Ethan, Theodore and Henry; siblings Crayton (Nance), Melana and Dean (DeAnn). Mark was preceded in death by his wonderful parents.
Mark was truly larger than life, and he will never be forgotten and always remember his famous quote:

A celebration of life for Mark will be on Tuesday, August 23, 2022 from 4:00 pm to 7:30 pm at the Utah Film Studios, 4001 Kearns Blvd, Park City, Utah. Guests are encouraged to park on the west side of the building to access the front entrance.

Hey Mark, I wanted to thank you for all the fun we had on the golf course the last couple of years. I looked forward to Friday's like it was Christmas. We had the best times and when Andrew joined us it was special. Mark was so proud of Andrew, you could see it in his eyes. Friday's has lost there luster for me, but I will never forget the great man that let me join the crew. Ted
Mark and Rick were both important team members to our building projects in Park City! We all learned together, we as MJM companies as builder developers, and Otto- Walker company as our architects. It was a great time to learn....er be in business in the upcoming community of Park City.....I can remember when the town was nicknamed "Bark City", and OD MaGee (true story) ran for Mayor on the dog ticket! We grew together as friends and business associates, played golf (Mike Doilney could always out drive Mark....at least that was what Mike always claimed!!) When we played I was actually very worried that Mark would accidentally swallow a golf ball, that he frequently would warm up in his mouth before driving. My business partner for our La Maconnerie (La Mac) as well as our Puerto Vallarta project, Las Palmas village at Punta de Mita, George P Wanty III, always got a kick out of the Otto-Walker team and would love to fly into Park City to visit the team at Miletis restaurant. Mark was a great guy that loved his family, his wife and twin boys, and the life he enjoyed in our Park City ski town. Mark and Rick made a big impact on our town to bring up the style, class, and fun to a great little gem in the mountain Park City..... To my friend who reads this........ WHAT!!! Mark, You were truly a gentleman. We never heard anything come out of your mouth that was not kind or funny. Your love for your family and your beautiful Stacey was heartwarming. Mark "Runs Like a Deer" - as he insisted I call him - had a remarkabel impact on my life. I feel fortuante to have been the first recipient of the Otto/Walker scholarship for the PCHS graduate looking to persue a career in Architecure. For me this also meant an internship at Otto/Walker in the summer of 1990. For months Mark and I sat back to back, sending sarcastic remarks back and forth, challenging each other to admire and appreciate the talents we each held. Most importantly Mark was intent on challenging me to a basketball game ... and inevitalbly a foot race - thus insisting I call him Mark "Runs Like a Deer". Mark and the Otto / Walker team quickly became a close knit chosen family. Mark, thank you for always remaining interested in my journey and my career. While we never did have that race, I have admired Mark for his passion for Architecture, his devotion to family, and his love for life and laughter. Jim and I are saddened by the news of Mark passing. Mark and his team made the process of creating our home so easy. We got together many times tweaking different aspects of our home. He was worried that we weren't going to use a decorator but if he saw the finished project, we know he would be pleased. He loved the fact that I had so many different colored converse and got a kick out of me matching them with my outfits. I see the name around the various builds in Glenwild. This is a man who was full of life and will be missed. We will always have the fondest memories of Mark.
