Mark Sacco

February 7, 1956 - May 14, 2025

Mark Sacco passed away peacefully on May 14, 2025, at the age of 69, surrounded by the love of his family after a short but hard-fought battle with Alzheimer’s Disease.

A devoted husband, loving father and grandfather, and loyal friend, Mark was known for his deep kindness and unwavering support for those he loved. He always saw the good in people and offered help without hesitation—qualities that will echo in all who knew him.

A natural athlete, Mark played football and baseball as a kid, but it was in the water where he found his true passion: swimming. His love for sports continued on the golf course, especially alongside his wife and favorite golf partner, Flava.

Mark and Flava were married for 41 years, their loving bond was the heart of everything he did. Together, they raised a family rooted in joy, spending time on camping trips with the dog and attending every sports game and play production their kids and grandkids were in. He adored his children and lit up around his granddaughters Ava and Grace, who were the light of his life.
Though a reluctant traveler by nature, Mark embraced adventure when it meant time with Flava and those he loved. He cruised with friends, savored the beauty of Hawaii, and played golf at legendary courses like Kapalua and the Old Course at St. Andrews—a dream come true. He appreciated good scotch, fine cigars, and a life well lived.

Mark could fix just about anything—car engines, leaky faucets—you name it. He took pride in being someone his family could always count on. With an unmatched work ethic, he built a successful career as a welder and boilermaker before spending over two decades at the Chevron refinery.

He also had a lifelong love affair with music—always a song in his heart and a tune in his head. Whether humming while he worked, jamming out to a favorite album, or sharing a meaningful melody, music was how he often expressed what words could not.

Mark will be remembered for his kindness, charisma, and zest for life. He lived with integrity and always put his loved ones first. His steady presence, laughter, and love will be missed beyond measure.

He is preceded in death by his wife Flava, parents Rula and Robert, and sister Kristi. He is survived by his daughter Melinda (Arthur), son Judson, and granddaughters Ava and Grace.

The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the staff and community at Sunrise of Sandy for the care and kindness they showed to Mark and his loved ones.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Alzheimer’s Foundation alzfdn.org/donate
A celebration of life open house will be held on Friday, June 13th from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at Starks Funeral Parlor, 3651 South 900 East, Salt Lake City. All who knew and loved Mark are welcome to attend and honor his memory.
