Mark Steven Knudson
October 20, 1958 - July 1, 2013
Our courageous, beloved “Merky” passed away on July 1, 2013 after a heroic two-year battle with pancreatic cancer. He died peacefully at home with family.
Mark was born on October 20, 1958 to Alfred and Margaret Knudson and raised in Salt Lake City. He was so friendly and loved people. Mark went out of his way to help anyone, anytime, anywhere. He was a wonderful husband, father, son, brother, uncle and friend. His son Alex was the light of his life. Mark was proud to have been the president of Churchill Junior High in 9th grade. He graduated from Skyline High School in 1977 and attended the University of Utah as a Pi Kappa Alpha, where he made lifelong friends. Mark had his own small business in the automotive industry. He loved friends, family, golf and travel. He was never happier than when beginning a vacation. This amazing man will be missed by all who knew him.
Survived by his wife Vicki; son Alex; father Al; sister Laurie (Woody) Cannon; brother Scott (Karol); brother-in-law Scott (Leslie) Weight; parents-in-law Neil and Renee Weight; and six nieces and nephews.

To the entire Knudson family: I am very sorry for your tremendous loss. I always enjoyed seeing and being around Mark. His smile and laugh were infectious. He always seemed to enjoy the moment, a trait which more people should have. We will always be fond of some of the "vacation time" we shared with him in McCall. Mark was one of the good guys that will be missed..... Randy Coke

I had the special pleasure of knowing Mark in two different capacities. First, he was one of Pat's (my older brother) best friends growing up. Once I got into college, I was fortunate enough to get to spend a bit more time with Mark as part of the Pi Kappa Alpha fraternity at the U. Mark ("Mama Knudson") was an established and well-known fixture. I must say that he was a wonderful and caring person to me whenever I saw him. He went out of his way to make sure that "Little Kelleher" was welcome and taken care of under his watch. I lost my brother when I was young but Mark told me stories and helped me understand more about him; it's a gift I will always cherish. I will always have a place in my heart for Mark. My sincerest condolences; the Kelleher family will remember Mark with much fondness and respect. BK

Throughout the years......Hilton, Airport, family......I was privileged to know Merky. He was such a kind soul with a grand smile -- never met anyone he did not call a friend! Mark will be missed by all who crossed his path.
