Mark Trenton Scott

Mark T. Scott, born to Gen W. T. Scott and Zolite E. Scott in Orange CA, passed away peacefully at home with his family by his side on September 22, 2021 from Glioblastoma.

He grew up in Laguna Beach, California in an historic home perched high on a ridge top overlooking the Pacific Ocean and Aliso Canyon. His lively childhood was spent surfing, sailing and exploring the hills surrounding the small beach community.

After living and traveling extensively throughout Europe for a year, Mark was drafted into the U. S. Army in 1968. He received an Army commendation medal for meritorious service while serving as a medical aidman and senior medical specialist with the medical section, 7th battalion, 13th artillery, in the Republic of Vietnam.

Mark’s working years included operations in the photo processing business, construction, refurbishing homes and computer tech. He loved to tinker and build things. He was patient and persistent and would spend hours at tasks others would have gladly abandoned. He could repair all manner of household and mechanical things from computers to Porsches.

In his younger days he was an enthusiastic adventurer and talented athlete. Mark crewed in open ocean sailing competitions, was an avid water and snow skier and backpacked the High Uinta mountains. He enjoyed camping and fishing in remote areas of British Columbia arriving via seaplane flown by his brother Tom.

Mark loved the ocean, photography, all his cats and very good dogs, Spanish guitar, golf, gardening, cooking, feeding the birds, fast cars, making new friends and being a fully engaged father. He was the quintessential soccer dad, loading up the minivan with all the Impact and Olympus boys to head off to the next practice or tournement.

His good humor, resourcefulness and love will be greatly missed by his wife Sherie and son Alexander. Mark was preceded in death by his parents, brother Tom of Woodinville, Washington and sister Zolite Ann Scott of Laguna Beach, California.

A Celebration of Life for Mark’s family and friends will be Saturday, October 30, 2021 from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm at Starks Funeral Parlor located at 3651 South 900 East, Salt Lake City, Utah.
