Martin Dell Barker
May 9, 1967 - December 12, 2018
On December 12th, 2018 Martin Dell Barker passed away in his home in Copperton, Utah at the age of 51.
Martin was born on May 9th, 1967 in Murray, Utah to Carl Eugene and Catherine Faye Barker and grew up in Granger, Utah with his mother and loving family, his brothers Kelly and Brian Barker, and his sister Patti Barker, his large, extended family of aunts, uncles, cousins and what would become lifelong friends.
Martin’s love for sports and the outdoors spawned from his lifelong relationship with his Big Brother (www.bbbs.org), “Grandpa Jim” Biddiscombe. Martin and Jim spent their free time wandering the beautiful mountains, rivers and lakes of the Wasatch Front, among many other hillsides across Utah. Jim truly changed Martin’s life and with help from his mother Faye, they shaped him into a great man with many accomplishments.
Martin continued to camp, fish and hunt throughout his adult life, enjoying the wilderness with many friends and family and loved sharing his hilarious stories about their nights by the fire. His confident personality and determination lead him to be a leader in many forms. As a father and husband, he strived and succeeded to give his family the best life. He was always the hardest working man in the room and grew to manage countless teams and large scale, city-wide projects throughout his 25 year career in construction management and inspection. He never hesitated to help a friend or family member in need and was the first one to kick your butt into gear whether you wanted it or not.
As many of his loved-ones know, Martin enjoyed countless hobbies and activities such as racing, hunting, fishing, boating, football, baseball and especially making his grandkids smile.
He is survived by his daughters Marti and Danielle; son, James; mother, Faye; siblings Patti and Brian; grandchildren Marie, Drake, Ellie and “Mo”; along with aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.
Please join Martin’s family and friends in a celebration of his life on Wednesday, December 19th from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Starks Funeral Parlor, 3651 South 900 East, Salt Lake City. Guests are encouraged to use the complimentary valet parking provided on the north side of the building. All are welcome.
Wilderness begins where the road ends,
So my next adventure begins.
And if we’re both lucky,
you’ll see me on some hillside again.

Our Hearts were broken to hear of the passing of Martin. We Truly enjoyed his friendship. I have missed working with him and seeing his smiling face at Herriman City. Matt will miss his hunting stories and advice on where the "Big One Is At" He is greatly missed. Please know our hearts and many prayers go out to you all at this most difficult time. I am so saddened by the loss of Martin. I counted him as a dear friend and associate. He will be greatly missed. To his children and grandchildren, I know you were the light of his life. He always lit up when he spoke of you, and I know he will be watching over you. My prayers for your family at this sad time.
I never thought in a million years I would never see you again. I never stopped loving you or thinking about you cousin.
