Mary Blanusa Radakovich

July 18, 1926 - March 7, 2016

In the company of her loving family, Mary Blanusa Radakovich, beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and aunt, passed away peacefully on March 7th, 2016.  She is preceded in death by her parents George and Katie Ruby; loving step-father Rudy Blanusa; siblings Margaret Anderson, Ann Rachele, and Mike Blanusa; and son-in-law Randall Topolovec.

Mary was born on July 18th, 1926 in Standardville, Utah to George and Katie Ruby.  Mary was a simple woman of kind words that took great pride in and loved serving others as a cleaning lady at Castleview Hospital and Carbon County School District. Following retirement, she relocated to Salt Lake City to be near her daughter and family. She cared for her dog Georgie, who was by her side for many years.

Mary is survived by her loving daughter Kathy (Randall) Topolovec; and two grandchildren RaNae (Scott) Schmidt and Stephanie (Kevin) O'Brien.  She is best known as Nana to more than just her great-grandchildren Paige, Jason and Paul O'Brien and Anna and Emily Schmidt. She leaves with us her special recipes of apple strudel and potica.

Memorial Mass will be celebrated on Friday, March 11th, 2016 at 2:00 PM at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, 1385 Spring Lane, Holladay, Utah.  Online condolences may be offered to the family at www.starksfuneral.com

The family wishes to thank Highland Care Center for their wonderful years of care and support where she was a known icon with the nickname "So-So Mary."

In memory of Mary, a devout Catholic, donations may be made to St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church.

In Loving Memory

Dear Cathy, Steven, Kay, Mark and Aldon, I was saddened about the news that your Mother and Aunt passed on. Mary was one of a kind. She was courageous, kind, and very charitable. I can't make the service, but know that I am thinking of you. Patty Davis

Kathy and family, I remember fondly my dear freind Mary and working with her at the hospital. She was a very outstanding person and a good freind. Oh, how she loved her pepsi. We loved going and getting a drink at the cafe with Laree Peacock. And so many long talks on the phone. How sad it was when they were in the wreck and Randy was called to the scene. But she was a real survivor. A very wonderful and lovely lady. I I have thought of her often. Remeber God is always with you. Rely on Him at this time. Our prayers are with you.

Our hearts hang low today. My sister-in-law Stephanie O'Brien, married to my brother Kevin in Utah, is giving her grandmother, Mary, back to heaven. Her job on earth, here, is finished. She raised an amazing daughter, Kathy, who then brought our sweet Stephanie O'Brien into our family. In our short time we were able to spend time with Grandma Mary, were knew she special. We will all miss her but we have the next best thing...those she left behind to carry on the love she gave so freely in her everyday life. Thank you for sharing grandma Mary with us, Stephanie and Ranae, and Kathy Topolovec
