Erna passed to the next life on Monday, March 24th, 2008. Erna was born on September 14th, 1915 to Paul & Marie Berndt in Veregan, SA Canada. She grew up on the family farm with her four siblings. She graduated from School of Nursing as a RN in 1940. For the next 40 years she worked taking care of others.
She was a devoted mother to her two sons that she raised as a single parent.
Erna loved to travel, go camping, do needlework, furniture refinishing, art work, ceramics and most of all she loved good feisty conversation. She had a great sense of humor.
Erna is survived by her son Larry and daughter-in-law Annette; four grandchildren Steven, Lisa, Shauna and Mike; ten great grandchildren; and friend Kathy Larson. She is preceded in death by her son Jerry.
We will celebrate her life at a wake on Friday, March 28th from 7 to 9pm at Starks Funeral Parlor 3651 South 900 East, Salt Lake City. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Saturday, March 29th at 11:00am at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church. Entombment to follow at Mt. Calvary Catholic Cemetery, Salt Lake City.
