Mary G. Mayo

December 13, 1924 - August 12, 2023

Mary G. Mayo, 98, died on August 12, 2023. She was born December 13, 1924 in Santa Fe, New Mexico to Felipe and Pilar Gonzales.
Mary attended Judge Memorial Catholic High School, Class of 1943 and married Deacon Silvio Mayo on December 23, 1943. He preceded her passing in 2018.
Mary was employed as Medical Librarian Assistant at various hospitals in the Salt Lake Valley. She was also a volunteer/member of the Cathedral of the Madeleine parish. She was very active with the Catholic Woman's League and was named woman of the year in 1996. She was also a Lady of the Equestrian Order of the Holy Sepulchre of Jerusalem.
Mary enjoyed the gift of hospitality with so many friends throughout the years. She was a veracious reader and loved a good game of bridge.
She leaves behind her children Joanne M. Mayo, Msgr. Joseph M. Mayo; grandchild Paul (Tina); two great-grandchildren Raquel and Evan Mayo; and daughter-in-law Kathy Mayo.
In addition to her husband, she is preceded in death by her parents, brothers and sisters, son Robert Mayo and grandson, David Mayo.
Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Wednesday, August 23, 2023 at 12:30 PM at the Cathedral of the Madeleine, 331 East South Temple, where a visitation will begin at 11:30 AM. Interment to follow at Mt. Calvary Catholic Cemetery, 4th Ave & “T” Street.
