Mary Wells passed away peacefully on June 26, 2025 in Salt Lake City, Utah. She was surrounded by her loving family who, along with her many friends, will miss her wit, generosity, and grace. She was born on May 28, 1943 in Starkville, Mississippi, the daughter of Rowland Cowart and Zenie Estelle Maddox.
Our beautiful Mary began her life as a beauty queen. At eighteen years old she was crowned Miss Clinton and competed in the Miss Mississippi Pageant. She lived her life in song, dance, and a love of language. Her compassion, empathy and joyful presence were a gift to all who knew her.
She used those skills working in customer service at The University of Montana and The David Eccles School of Business at The University of Utah.
While Mary achieved professional success, her true source of pride and joy was her family. She was preceded in death by her son, Robert William Wells V. She is survived by her daughter, Amy Trevino; her grandsons, Max, Jake and Ryan Trevino; and her brother Bobby (Joanne).
Mary left this world just as beautiful as she entered. She was a loving mother, grandmother and friend.
