Mary Smit Erskine

April 17, 1939 - July 12, 2016

Mary Smit Erskine
"Woots"

I passed away on July 12, 2016. I was born on April 17, 1939 to my loving parents, Joe and Lena Smit. I had two siblings, Marilyn (deceased) and Jolene. I attended public school and graduated from West High School, class of '57, where I made many life long friends. In 1960 I married Jim Perry. We had two children, Karen and Craig. We later divorced but remained friends. In 1980 I married Ralph Erskine and gained seven children, their spouses and grandchildren. We had a lot of fun over the years as the family blended well. Ralph and I had a great life together and he survives me.

Along with Ralph, I am survived by daughter Karen (Bob) Zanetti; son Craig; my grandkids Chandler, Marisa and Marco; sister Jolene Corey (Warren); brother-in-law Dale Hartson; Ralph's children Mike (Sheryl) Erskine, Doug (Joanne) Erskine, Randy (Penny) Erskine, Kevin (Lynette) Erskine, Holly Thurman, Todd (Tammy) Erskine, Heather (Scott) Baugh; a lot of grandkids; great grandkids and great great grandkids.

I want to thank Dr. Agarwal and Julia Batten at the Huntsman Cancer Hospital as well as all the nurses in the infusion area and all other areas who were too kind to me. Thank you to Shane, Nicole, Elizabeth and Kelli of Inspiration Hospice. And a special thank you to Holly who took such wonderful care of me.

I will be cremated and will have an evening of celebration on Monday, July 18th from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at Starks Funeral Parlor, 3651 South 900 East, Salt Lake City. This is to be a happy occasion as I had such a great life. Guests are encouraged to use the complimentary valet parking provided on the north side of the building.

In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to the Huntsman Cancer Institute or to the charity of your choice.

I worked with Mary many years ago and she was friends in Rose Park with my aunt and uncle, Glen and Venice Spencer. She was always kind and helpful to me teaching me the banking business at a young age. I'm sure she will be missed. Rick Spencer and Spencer Family

To Mary's family; Mary and I go way back, our fathers were best of friends...got into so much trouble. Larry and I left the Rose Park area more than 30 years ago, but would run into Mary occasionally and especially at Larry's high school reunions. Our prayers goes out to all of you who loved her so much.
