Maureen Stevenson Johnson
June 20, 1926 - May 5, 2016
Beloved wife & mother, passed away peacefully at home on May 5, 2016. She was born June 20, 1926 to Charles A. & Beulah M. Stevenson in Darden, Tennessee.
Maureen worked at Salt Lake Hardware where she met and later married Jerry E. Johnson. They had one daughter, Paula. They shared 60 years in a home they built together in East Mill Creek. They worked side by side in their business, Bud's True Value Hardware in Cottonwood Heights.
Maureen was the consummate southern cook and homemaker. She was always willing to share her skills, and she gave generously and selflessly of herself to others in need. She was a compassionate, kindhearted and devoted wife, mother, aunt & "Grammy." Admirer of flowers, dogs, & sweet treats. She will be dearly missed and her gentle, nonjudgmental nature will be remembered by many.
Maureen is survived by her daughter Paula Kimble; her beloved grand-dog Cash; sisters-in-law Marva (Joe) Whittaker, Elaine (Morris) Johnson; brother and sister-in-law Ron & Doris Johnson; as well as many nieces & nephews, that considered her a second mother. She is preceded in death by her husband Jerry; and son-in-law Donald Kimble.
A graveside service will be held on June 18, 2016 at 1:00 PM at Elysian Burial Gardens at 1075 East 4899 South, Salt Lake City.
